I'm interested to know what cities will look like in this game? Will they be vast and explorable, like that of Grand Theft Auto? Will they be small and simple, like that of Diablo? Personally, I'd like to see large and open, like GTA. People enjoy exploring, and for a game like this, that seems like a large theme. I'd like to see cities reminiscent of Knights of the Old Republic, with sleek skyscrapers and inspiring vistas, NPC citizens roaming about, various shops and points of interest. I'd also like to bring forward the concept of city raids. Much like the world event leading up to World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, where elementals thrashed the city and players would defend their home, I think it would be exciting to see something like this in Destiny. The problem with the Cataclysm world event, however, is that players didn't feel required to participate. Incentive to participate, such as rewards or currency, is necessary for people to involve themselves with -- actual consequences to a defense turning unsuccessful. If this city wasn't defended well enough, maybe some supplies were stolen, so you'll have to buy that ammo or that gun from a different city. Of course, raids shouldn't happen too often (to prevent persisting annoyance), but I think events like this would spice things up and make this open world far more interesting. Just thought I'd throw a couple ideas out there, and hope the right people see it. Alas, we don't know much about the game just yet, and we don't know what ideas they're already planning to utilize, but it's worth letting them know what we'd like to see come of this game.

  • The city raid would be a neat event to throw in every now and then to spice up life under the Traveler's shadow, but one thing I'm confused about in your post is you mention 'cities'. As in, plural. Isn't the story that the only part of humanity that survived was the part under the Traveler? So wouldn't there just be one city? Still, would be cool to participate in. You could be all walking to the store for the latest upgrade, and then all of a sudden sirens start blaring and you rush to the wall to fend off the enemy incursion? That'd be an exciting day in my book...
