Posted by: Final Sentence I got bored since this site is down again, LOOK AT THIS VIDEO.. Halo rip off much?
No. I fail to see how Mass Effect is a "rip-off" of Halo in any shape or form. The only real similarities between the two game franchises are as follows: Both are published by Microsoft. Each game has a sci-fi setting. Aliens and humans are involved. -- Aliens and sci-fi settings are hardly original trademarks of Halo. Other than what I've listed above, there are no further similarities between the two. On occasion, Shepard (the main protagonist from Mass Effect) will have to fight against aliens, but will mostly be fighting Geth - the synthetic lifeforms that Saren (the main antagonist) commands. But fighting aliens is, once again, hardly an original trademark of the Halo franchise. Humans fighting aliens was done long before Halo ever arrived on the scene. Case closed.

Your right, because Halo 3 is an action based RPG, with a great story line and no multiplayer, right? You fale.

Looks pretty lame to me, but whatever...
I'll say it again: Mass Effect was orginally created to be KOTOR3, but it became a game of its own when it wasn't picked up by Lucasarts. :D
No it wasn't. There has been no word about KOTOR3 as of yet. Mass Effect was made to be it's own game and start it's own series. KOTOR3 is a different game altogether that is most likely also being made in the background.
That might be what they're saying now, but that's not what they were saying a year or two ago. You do know Bioware made one of the KOTOR games right?

Mass Effect is an RPG, totally not comparable to Halo. Mass Effect doesn't have Multi player over Live or Co-op. Also theres going to be two more Mass Effect is set to be a trilogy. I can't wait for this game cause I'm a huge RPG fan.

Anyways, there aren't many if any similarities plot-wise between Halo and Mass Effect. The world is somewhat similar, as it's set in the future and involves multiple races of aliens.

I can't wait to hear his motivation for saying it's a rip off. He surely hasn't seen any other mass effect videos...
Posted by: RedRaptor weather it is or not, im prolly gonna end up buing it. Nothing will replace halo for me though. It has a special place in my heart. ps. Mass effect got a 9.75 in game informer.
Yeah i have that issue and i think its pretty retarded for them to review something before its even out but i guess if it sucked you would save 60 bucks

But anyways Mass Effect is going to be amazing!!!! November is just a great month for games: COD4, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect; something for everyone. So say goodbye to your life for a little while lol

Halo is not an original idea. It takes ideas from Ringworld by Larry Niven. Hell, the intro to Halo 3 talks about LUCK which readers of the Ringworld series would understand.

Halo rip off much?
You're either young or not a sci-fi fan, no offense meant on either score. Larry Niven popularized these sorts of structures in his 1970 sci-fi novel Ringworld, and those sorts of designs for orbital stations have been around since even earlier in theoretical space designs that came out of NASA thinktanks and such. I remember seeing them in kids' science books in the early 1970's. If you want to talk about "influences" (as opposed to "rip-offs") the Spartans are pretty much Space Marines from the Warhammer 40,000 game, which is 20 years old. The ODST troops? Think Mobile Infantry from the Robert A. Heinlein novel "Starship Troopers," which is hella old. And "mankind faces inhuman enemy which threatens all life in the galaxy," think like 25% of all popular science fiction since the inception of the genre... There's really no such thing as an original idea in science fiction anymore. Everyone pretty much borrows from everyone else ad nauseum.
Posted by: Gundy G its halo's biggest contender
how can it be? it's not even technically a full first person shooter. yes it is for some of it. but in halo you can't go through levels telling all your marines what weapon/ammo/shots to use. that's more of an rts than a fps

I STILL don't know what this game is... from I understand, its like an MMO shooter? Also, YAY!!! the site is fixed!!
