The next gen consoles are gonna years behind PCs. IF it wasn't for consoles, games would probably look much better

Surprisingly not one shit was given.

Mate, if you want Destiny for PC, you're not helping our case. You're just making us look like -blam!-s, going all "WELL SHIT OUR SHITS BETTER ANYWAYS HA". But I do have to agree with your last sentence, console limitations really are holding proper graphical innovation back.

1 ReplyConsoles are way better than PCs because they are a better value. You can buy a 5 year old console and still play evey single game released for it without being outdated. Lolpc

GAMEPLAY > artstyle > story > graphics

2 RepliesGEE YEAH. THEY DEFINITELY ARE, BECAUSE WE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT GPU WILL BE IN THE NEXT GEN CONSOLES.
-
I don't even give a shit.

1 ReplyIt's not just about looks though. Consoles aren't capable of huge, open-world MMO's, or 64 player Battlefield games, or even larger Minecraft worlds. Graphics shouldn't be included in the list of why PC's are better gaming machhines than consoles. There are far more important things that are inhibited.

6 RepliesActually OP there is a hug possibility that next gen consoles will be up to speed with current PC's. Or a few years in front of current PC's. The company making the CPU's and other hardware for the new Xbox have said they are working on some amazing new things that will advance gaming. This doesn't mean it will be in the new Xbox but rumors say it might.

1 Replywhile I do agree to that they won't be up to par at any given moment, most pc games still released can run fine on decent parts. The thing about consoles is that its just a simple way to game, you put in the game and play, the draw is how simple it is. People like to complain about graphics but to get those ultra high end graphics, you need some pretty expensive parts, and most people won't shell out 2 grand just to have a good gameing rig, in which it will have technically outdated parts in a year or two. Besides why are graphics so important anyway? I'd rather have awesome gameplay and story over graphics

3 RepliesEdited by Gr33n: 2/14/2013 2:21:47 AMConsoles can afford to be behind, because they run games much more efficiently than PCs do. If you put the specs of a 360 into a PC and tried to run a game like Skyrim or Halo 4 or Battlefield 3, it wouldn't run. The 360 was behind when it released in 2005, and look at what it's still able to push out. Compare that to PC's from a few years after the 360 s launch and you'll see some similarities. Consoles don't have to compete with the specs of a PC because the games are coded and built to run as well as possible on the specific hardware. The reason PC games don't look better isn't because of consoles, it's because of the diversity of different parts that are in PCs. If developers were able to work with the new generation as well as they've learned to work with the current one, the new consoles would be able to push out graphics far better than the majority of PCs now, and on par with some of the highest-powered ones. It just takes a few years for that potential to get tapped into. It's easier to make great looking games on consoles than it is on PC, due to the dedicated hardware. Also, due to the lower cost of console gaming, the companies that push out excellent graphics on PC are able to reach a broader market and grow their company. PC's are better for having raw power, but consoles are better for the growth of the industry.

2 RepliesOp, you are aware that games came to consoles first before PC right? Home PC's weren't even around before the first console entered peoples homes.

better than 7 years behind.
-
If consoles go then say bye bye to the whole video game industry.
-
1 ReplyBut it still much better than current gen.
-
Ah yes op knows this very well since he has both, oh wait...
-
Not really, the big improvements for this gen are going to be in AI mainly.
