Simple question, why is it illegal?
Pathetic? Quite possibly, but why should it be something which is made illegal. Make it legal and regulated, well not only have you got more clean women on your hands (lel) there's money to be made I mean just look at how big the porn industry is, you'd be a fool to thing there isn't economic gain from this., and it's quite possibly the incident rate of murder and rape will decrease. Not by alot, but the lower the better (again, lel)
Thoughts?

STD's run rampant.
-
I'd support legalizing it. There would still be problems, but it would generate massive tax revenue. Take money out of the hands of the criminals that are doing it anyways. Oldest profession in the world. It's not going anywhere legal or not.
-
It's legal here in Reno Nevada...
-
Reading through this thread, it seems a lot of people assume that legalizing prostitution means: "Letting dem pimps keep deir hoes in da crib" when really, we mean: "Allowing women to work in a well regulated, SAFE environment known as a brothel(yeah yeah, if i say brothel you'll assume it's just a pimp house, again, we're not talking about those kinds of things become legal)"
-
15 RepliesI would assume because of the risks of sleeping with strange men.
-
It's legal here.
-
7 RepliesBecause we're not a barbaric and trashy civilization.
-
No clue OP, you'd think they'd just hurry up and allow well regulated brothels because of the reasons you listed, but for some reason the government doesn't care.

Edited by Top_Gun_2021: 2/5/2013 8:47:40 PMThis probably. Although I assume they test regularly.

4 RepliesProstitution is illegal in the USA? Ok. Didn't know that.
-
4 RepliesBecause the human body has no legal value, and therefore, the government cannot tax that shit.
-
3 RepliesIf prostitution is illegal, then -blam!- and murder rates go down AMAZINGLY.If you "buy a woman/women" then that's an easy target. She's dead within the week.
-
Depends on the locals concept of morals.
-
There's really no good reason it should be illegal. Not that I would take advantage of it if it was legal, but something shouldn't be illegal because I don't like it.
-
Edited by TomoK12: 2/5/2013 7:40:53 PMBecause it's more civilised that way.

1 ReplyIt is not "women" being sold into slavery. They can mutually agree with their partner to exchange in such a way that they both benefit.
-
In Nevada, where it is legal, none (or very close to 0) of the registered prostitutes tested positive for AIDS But in cities elsewhere, the percentage of prosties with AIDS is pretty high. Legalize it. It may be way more economically efficient.
-
It's legal here... (The Netherlands)
-
Well, it doesn't contribute to the economy in a positive way. If the studies of prostitution and drug abuse hold true, the money spent goes no where except into a system that dissolves society and cripples lives.

Edited by Braydzz: 2/5/2013 2:03:47 PMWomen being sold Is never a good thing.. Take a look at european countries where it is less enforced, Pimps become so money hungry that they start taking tourists and forcing them into prostitution.. and we don't need that here it also brings around more drugs because people start selling themselves for drugs and then it also brings guns and violence for because some people don't pay up or owe people money and the girls are treated like crap wheras in porn girls actually have quite a lot of money. Maybe open the porn industry to more girls and guys instead.. And also girls in porn that have websites make tons of money its upwards of about 200 dollars for a 2 month subscription and that's way more than they would make on the streets.

For those that reference Nevada, Nevada's laws on prostitution are lame. It isn't legal state-wide, only in counties below certain populations. You shouldn't have to drive over an hour from the Vegas Strip to find some legal hookers IMO.
-
STDs and it's just plain disgusting.
-
11 RepliesI could give you a hundred reasons why it's illegal, but I think I'll give you one instead because I'm super tired. STD's, Aids? Have you ever seen anyone in the porn industry use a condom? Because I haven't.
-
13 RepliesTo prevent human trafficking in the sex trade, to prevent vulnerable people from being coerced into or forced into prostitution, to protect people from the crazies that want to go out and assault/torture/murder women who hang around on dimly lit street corners selling their ass and to prevent organised crime from making money with which to fund other criminal activities. Standards of decency and prevention of the spread of STIs aren't even close to the main reasons why prostitution is illegal to varying levels in most countries.

Because taxes can't be collected from it. Its a cash economy, no one wants that appearing on a credit card or cheque/bank statement. Cash transactions avoid direct or indirect tax, no tax == no upside for most governments. STD/Aids etc exist already within the community, do you think these workers acquired it from other workers, no they contract these diseases from the community. It may spread via the worker, but it will do that via the original client anyway (who won't use any form of protection). Morality ... in the eye of the holder. No one forces you to partake, nor view the acts being performed. Is it not the mind which creates these immoral acts (given those who claim distaste do not partake) ... so isn't the immorality the ownership of your own dirty thoughts?

i'm guessing the reason is cus it's distasteful.
