I don't know if this has been brought up before and addressed, but I'd like to put it out there as it is a major concern of mine. I have a wide screen TV, purchased specificly for use with my Xbox 360 almost 2 years ago. At the time I hadn't yet played through Halo 2. To bring my girlfriend up to speed, I played through Halo:CE with her in split-screen Co-op mode. under 480p Widescreen, Halo:CE gave us an Over-Under split which we enjoyed very much. Then we started playing Halo 2 on Co-op and were shocked to find it displaying a Side-by-side split. There was no option in the game menus I could find that would change it to over-under and no mention of this in the game manual. We found this very disorienting and obnoxious to the point that we couldn't complete the first level/chapter. I tried asking around on various forums but no one had an answer for me, everyone said that it should display an over-under split or there should be a menu option or something. Perplexed and annoyed, I gave up and let it sit until the ARG for Halo 3 began. I wanted to play through Halo 2 so I wouldn't be spoilered to death but I didn't want to play without my girlfriend. I decided that, "hey, most people probably don't have a screen like mine yet, what if..." so I went into the Xbox 360 setup and changed the Widescreen setting to Normal. Lo and behold, Halo 2 gives us an Over-Under split just like we wanted. While this workaround allowed us to finally play through Halo 2 together, I felt it was also an obnoxious and unneccessary extra step for us to have an enjoyable play experience. I would like to submit that I hate side-by-side split-screen co-op and would prefer the option to have over-under split-screen configurable in game reguardless of the console setup. Hopefully the developers see this before it is too late if it isn't already. [Edited on 07.16.2007 12:08 PM PDT]
