I'm thinking that the area this shot is in is near the Seattle area. (Mt. Rainier in the background.) knowing Bungie, the Forunner prolly put an artifact that happens to be RIGHT under Bungie Studios in Redmond. Maybe Master Cheif was on his way to catch the covenant and got shot down in the forest.
