Forerunner and a Prophet

Warning: This thread contains Prophecy and possibly spoilers (I haven't played the game). If you are prone to flaming, you have been warned! Welcome to my mother of all thread (thus far). For those of you who are familiar with my previous posts on the topic, this is new stuff. I have handpicked several passages from The Word. They're quite frightening at how they are appearently coincidental... Or I'm just crazy (I like both answers). If anyone would like a list of the passage titles, simply PM me for them and I'll be more than happy to send 'em your way. (If you are not a skeptic of my findings, skip this paragraph) I understand that some (if not, most or all of you) do not believe as I believe. But for all of you skeptics out there, please try to answer these questions: Where else do you hear about the Flood wiping out entire populations? Where else do you hear about the Prophets of the Covenant? Where else do you hear about the Reclaimer bringing salvation to mankind? With that said, let the intrigue begin! (any thoughts I add will be italicised)

 •
Posted by: Noice Guy Sup guys I don't know if this has been brought up before and I'm not much of a bible person but I know some of the stories. Putting Halo(the game) aside for a moment, in those bible stories isn't the Ark suppose to save life on Earth from the flood(water)? In Halo 2 it seems like if the Ark is part of the destruction of life on Earth. Unless Earth is the Ark and only life on Eartch survives the destruction caused by the Halos. Just an idea.
Yes. A long time ago, mankind lost alot of its.... say... moral touch, so God decided to cleanse the land by sending a massive flood that covered the earth for 40 days. But before it started to even rain, God told Moses to build the Ark, a giant boat, to save himself, his family and a boatload of animals. There is also something called the Ark of the Covenant. It is a small wooden chest containing the ten commandments, Aaron's staff, and some manna (kinda like bread). I think it represents the Glory of God. I believe that either story is relative to the Ark in halo2. However, I am leaning more towards the Ark of the Covenant story connection more... although it could be a hybrid of both. thanks for the good question, Noice Guy.

 •
Posted by: gods_spartan Wow...its lonely in this thread, no ones talking anymore...
I know. I'm keeping an eye on it, but i don't have alot of information. I could spill what little I have collected on gravemind, but it would be a bit redundant and short. Unless... that is... you want to hear a pre-mature musing/theory/prediction. In which case I could respond in the effort to keep this thread alive for just a little longer.

 •
Posted by: eKKo2639 you have done a really good job with this. one question (nothing sarcastic, im being completely serious): are u a strong faithed Christian, or not much of a Christian but spent a lot of time looking and comparing the quotes to transmissions and etc, or both (meaning ur a strong faithed Christian AND spent a lot of time comparing)? you have made really good points, and i look forward to seeing future posts/threads
By all means, I love questions. This is no exception. I have entered into my relationship with Christ about a year and a half ago and I am going strong. I read my Bible everyday, and I go to church often. After watching the matrix and observing other forms of media (see also: tiberian sun and The Terminal) that use spiritual foundations, I find it easy to see where paralles may or may not be intended. I do need to be careful, however, to not become obsessed and anylize everything. But what first inspired me to observe the halo parallels were the Covenant communications and some of their interpretations at the Yellow banshee website. I believe that some of their conclusions are not as well founded as some of their other ones, and so I do not agree with a few of them. But hey, that's what being a theorist is all about. A good way to conclude that these (mine and all others') observations are valid is that this thread has been going a long time and it hasn't been locked yet. Most any thread that involves religion is doomed to be locked and the author black listed. However, I endeavor to present my finds in a humble, non-forceful attitude. (We all remember the Dropa discs. 'n'uff said.) And as a final note: I have been accused of "following a trend" with these parallels by a certain individual. That is to say, Spartan no220. I try to communicate with him via the PM system and a thread he started up (it's the exact same as the post he made in this thread) but he doesn't even respond to me. You'd think a guy (gal?) with a bachelors in communications would speak directly and clearly. I have nothing against him, he offers valid points, but I have nothing to say to those who do not give an effort to communicate effectively. In short, I do not post these observations for myself. I gain nothing by impressing (or provoking?) those whom I have not met, and probably will not meet. I do this help those who seek the Tru7h. As cliché as that might sound, I believe that that is what bungie means when they tell us to seek the Tru7h. Helpfull hints to all who aspire to become distinguished theorists at Bungie.net: [*]Read the forum rules and obey them [*]Present your information/opinions humbly and with respect [*]Treat all members as though they were in the room with you [*]Don't theorize so you can earn the title of Theorist, do it to inspire others to think rather than flame. [*]Share your opinions honestly, but don't demand that others believe the same. [*]never forget about the preview or edit buttons. Because, in truth, anyone at the bungie.net forums who has opinions is a theorist. Whether or not you are distinguished/well-liked/hated/forgotten/banned/stickied is determined by how present your words. (*woah*, that turned out to be a longer response than I expected. Thanks for the good question ekko2639) My next update will likely be on Gravemind or the prophets of Truth, Mercy and Regret (not necesarily in that order). Well, I'm going to go play The Arbiter. Until next time, keep on thinkin'. Peace, ~Weasel

 • lol well my idea was ALMOST KINDA original...and ya, I wish you could play as the arbiter with his "Pimp Gear", in my opinion it just looks better then the arbiter armor, and its definitely more up-to-date. But then...the cloaking feature would be infinite and....*evil grin*...oh MAN that would make for easy arbiter levels...

 •
Posted by: gods_spartan Hey guys I just got back from seeing a show and eating ice cream with a ladyfriend of mine. before you disregard this because of the opening line PLEASE READ. We saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was around the time that Joseph was ridiculed and cast out by his brothers for something that wasnt his fault that I said to myself "ARBITER". When he got to Egypt and started working for Pharoh and when Pharoh was explaining his dreams to Joseph via a rock and roll musical number I thought to myself about how much Joseph and the Arbiter are alike...cast out of glory, redeeming themselves, becoming leaders and heros to their people...anyway thats my two cents, although in this massive thread someone has probably already made the comparison.
That's very good.... woah, deja vu. I was discussing that with a friend of mine, known in the forums as WhitestarAnubis (his two cents are on page 3), while I mentioned that and the fact that he was stripped of his really pretty armor, he (WhitestarAnubis) pointed out that he was thrown in a well type pit.

 •
Posted by: gods_spartan anything new going on in this thread?
Not really. I've taken a small break, which I'll probably end soon. My next topic of interest is either going to be the gravemind, or perhaps the heretic (though he doesn't recive much mention apart from one level). But of course, all this is subject to change. But an interesting side note can be reviewed: Major prophets in the old Testament tell of how it will be in the end times. Of course, there is alot of information to cover there, but one interesting iota may be observed. Along with the fall of Babylon (modern day Iraq), Egypt will be crushed because both nations (along with others) where/are bitter enemies of the Israelites. What I'm getting at is, I think that the designers of halo may have used the names of ships/sations of Earth's defenses in reference to the enemies of the Israelite nation. The malta and the Athens may represent the Gentiles (also known as (i think) greeks). Malta is an island in Greece that was occupied by many different nations. And Athens.... I think it's obvious that it's a name of a foriegn god (to the people of the Holy Covenant). And Cairo could possibly represent the doomed Egypt. Final note: I've pondered this for a while, but I have not given it much consideration, so it is subject to more digging. (This just in, information regaurding ANYTHING regaurding the Covenant.

 •
In many ways, I believe the ending to Halo 2, or rather, the bridge to Halo 3 was a nod to all the theorist within the Bungie community. For those of us who love to speculate, Halo 2 is a gold mine of information. Threads on gameplay, physics, and tricks won’t keep the b.net community going for years. It’s those crazy speculation that fuel this community, and in that respect, the end of Halo 2 is brilliant! Anyways, that’s my two cents, and I’ll be jumping back into my usual theory walk soon enough. -Eagle 117
Ah! Eagle 117! We meet again. The distinguished theorist has come to a thread that one such as I made? Sorry about the grovelling. Your work is just so carefully done! (a rare thing for this forum) Anyway, I agree whole heartedly on your stand point on the quality of the game, as well as the ending. It helped me to know that mal-contented others where so repulsed by it before I beat it, so when I did beat it, it didn't seem so bad. I also agree that the speculation makes the game worth it. If it was just about smashing in the heads of aliens and blowing the crap out of giant rings in space, I'd still have a fun game, but it'd feel thin. Anyway, you know you appreciate a game that much more when you pick it apart via thought process. ~Fin~

 •
Posted by: Spartan no220 To first introduce myself, regard me by my username. I am a BA in Communications and fluent in Christian/Protestant & Orthodoxy theology, ideaology, and dissertative matters on such subjects in storytelling. Let me explain something to the readers, and especially to the creator of this thread: Throughout the ages, it has become almost 'fashionable' to some extent to derive, or abstract per se, a new (modern) [in this case...post-modern] story from various components of our past. It would not do historical justice to say that there are "biblical references" in movies such as the Matrix and games such as Halo; however, I am not saying there is absolutely no correlation. First to understand this, we must say that these stories (which I am very much a fan of as well) have the basic elements of storytelling, screenwriting, and game scripting that most of today's story-rich media. It is NOT safe to say that such extraordinary works, like the Bible, has references TO Halo; albeit, the storytellers derived such fundamentals from it. In layman terms...the storytellers (i.e. Game Scripting) at Bungie were brilliant in using fundamental story aspects that every storyteller should rely that has its roots in such places as the Bible and other historical primary sources. IT WAS NOT JUST BY CHANCE! It is no great revelation that some of today's greatest stories has ties to documents that were written within the last two millenia...and beyond! They are just great storytellers. In short, there is no new thing under the sun. What made for fascinating stories thousands of years before (even if the stories are factual) make for great stories today. FOR THE CREATOR OF THIS THREAD: If you are going to use such hype about one who is educated in such matters, it would be wise to watch your tongue, for in that same Bible that you quote it states (Revelation): "...Young foolish men will look for signs where there are none..." There is no prophecy in Halo, although it is a wonderful game. The true prophecy lies in the primary sources from where such stories are abstracted....Thank you.
Greetings. I have never said that halo contains prophecy. I merely stated that if the creators of halo hold fast to the Written Word, I pointed out what we may or may not expect from the game. I do not believe I have ever said that halo is anything greater than it is. And I have never said that The Bible has refrences to halo, but merely the other way around. Jason Jones (the creator of halo) states that "...Halo is a story of Salvation...", and I leave it at that. A story. I have never meant to bring the Word of God lower, or the work of man (ie. halo) higher. I am merely attempting point out what the authors (of the productions such as the matrix and halo) may have very well intended to put in the game. And the only way others will know that I am not lieing about such matters is to directly quote the Bible. If you notice, I don't treat halo like the Gospel. If I ever did, point out such a situation and I will make amends. And finally, in response to your last few sentances, I have never said that halo contained prophecy. And I do not believe I am looking for any signs. Well, that is, not in any games/movies. I would understand if this is a rebuke. If it is, please show me (using a link or direct quote) where I am at fault. But if you are casting stones... well I think you know well enough about that. Thank you for your thoughts, and if you wish to say anything private, please feel free to PM me. Infact I encourage it. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." -Weasel
