Halo 3 Beta Update
In light of the recent Microsoft press release, we give you some more details on how to ensure your participation in the upcoming Halo 3 Beta program, and a few more tidbits about how we plan to take care of the Bungie faithful.

Back on topic. it is safe to asume that you will only be able to use a copy to unlock the beta download only once. That means you can not let a friend borrow your copy and unlock it for themself. As for renting a copy well I think those will be a different batch af the game crackdown and will not be the key to the beta download. Answers Bungie we need Answers.
