•
Posted by: endofwho
Will Halo 2 for Windows Vista add online co-op? No, it won’t. In addition, all split-screen modes have been disabled for Halo 2 on Vista. Why did you disable split-screen and co-op modes in Halo 2 for Windows Vista? Playing cooperatively through any console game in a living room environment surrounded by friends and family is a markedly different experience than gathering around the average home PC. In addition, eliminating split-screen gaming removed the most challenging performance problem from Halo 2, and gave the H2V developers room to improve graphics and audio in the game.
What no Co-op!! That was worst thing about halo PC. Why do this again for halo 2 PC ? What do you mean by performance problems for the PC? Xbox Has: CPU: Intel Pentium III 733-MHz processor technology with streaming SIMD extensions Graphics processor: 233-MHz, custom-designed X-Chip, developed by Microsoft and Nvidia Total memory: 64MB of RAM (unified memory architecture) PC has : Two or more 2+ GHz processors with SSE SSE2 ... Graphics processor: GeForce 8800 GTX with 768MB of GDDR3 at 575MHz Total Memory 768+2048 = 2816 MB of ram The PC has Way more power. Why not just let the frame rate drop in co-op? 125 to 63 fps is no big deal. It is just like moving from no AA to 16xMSAA What the audio on the xbox was fine? so why are you spending so long upgrading the audio?
The problem wasn't graphics; it was the netcode. Because they are trying to make this port as simple as can be, while even eliminating some features found from Halo 2 Xbox, they are not going to to bother with co-op because it deals with the netcode. To me, this honestly spells out that they aren't really doing anything different to the netcode this time around, which will be hilarious. "Hey kids, not only do you have to endure a crappy port once more with crappy netcode, but you'll have to pay to play online this time around!" Bungie just shat on H2V.
