Anyone of the 4 marines could be "COALMINER" but I think that Johnson is the most probable choice. Sergeant Johnson was part of the Spartan-I program, and all of his files have been sealed by ONI.

Actually, any of the [i] surviving [i] marines could be COALMINER. There could have been other officers who were killed by the Covenant attack, or just escaped the Circumfrence that possibly could be Akhersons informer. Also, after reading the messages sent by Coalminer and reading/listening how Johnson talks, it looks and sounds like they are two different people. Plus, I'm not positive, but I think it says in The Flood that Johnson spent most of his time logged going from planet to planet., or sent around fighting Covenant. (I'll find page number later.)

We also know from the HGN that Ackerson has been interested Johnson, and was trying to get into Johnson's files and he suspects that Johnson is a Spartan-I

It's kinda disputed that the pictures at the end of the HGN are in fact canon. It says that they are just artists illustrations of their view of the Halo Universe, nothing more.

Just as you called it, sir. Don’t worry—as far as the sta-
ion computers are concerned, Circumference never
even existed.

How did they find the Circumference if it was in stealth and had no record on the station or even in the shipyard?
