NBA player Gilbert Arenas cheating at Halo 3

Cheater Look at all his games that he gets 1st place in. He joins up with a friend and has his other account quit out so he gets 1st place every time. How can this be allowed? My last words on this subject Live 08 sucks<<<<<<<<<2k8.... •
Posted by: GaNgStUh FeLoN You are an idiot? So because he made himself win 25 games in Social Doubles (Without the use of standby or DoS) now he is suspected on all of his ranks?
25 games? try 225 games, go look at his stats, chester. and yes, if he cheats once, we can suspect him of cheating again... edit: had to add the quote... He said in the washington post interview that he would continue to cheat and had zero issues with it. Perhaps guilt has set in?
Or realization that what he said to the Post reporter was incredibly -blam!- stupid.
or really doesn't care

 • I'm about to make a video blog (it's a hobb) about this situation. If you have any questions about this situation that you would like me to answer in my opinion on the video blog, please quote this reply and put your question in the reply. I'm going to point out the important points in this debate and really break down why they're wrong.

It isn't fair.
You're right. Bungie should ban each and every one of them.
Exactly, if they are gonna ban him they sure as hell ban every single player that has done it as well.

 • Chris Crocker is entitled to his opinions just as you are... I didn't compare you, I just said your remark reminded me of how Chris Crocker loves his attention, as I'm sure Arenas does to.

 •
Posted by: GaNgStUh FeLoN
Posted by: S Plissk3n For Bungie to look the other way on this issue amazes me. Here we have a famous cheater, but a cheater nonetheless. Bungie doesn't have to make an example of him by being overly agressive (perma ban), just do the right thing, and adjust his XP to take away all the boosted XP. For Bungie not to act on this issue, practically screams that they don't care about rules or standards, and cant care less on the state of the ranking system. Not acting on this type of behavior just encourages it further....
Perma banned for first offense in a team training game? Why should they use him as an example where there are THOUSANDS of people doing the exact same thing just because he is famous. It isn't fair. Also he can be used as a marketing tool, it amazes me that a famous NBA player makes time for online Halo so just that makes me like Halo even more.
I said, Bungie doesn't have to be overly agressive. Perma ban being overly agressive and unneccessary. They just need to take away his boosted XP. Reading helps. As for everyone else who is boosting XP, if Bungie can find a way to track them, then do the same. Arenas got caught, and he needs to be punished accordingly. I'm not one to determine the penalty of it, but it needs to happen to show that Bungie actually abides by the rules and enforces them.

 • Cheating should get you Banned, I don't care who you are. I am not advocating making the example out of Gil. Bungie can find someone else that has also done this, ban them first and then ban Gil. He will have to go into his other game room to play from now on.

Just to let you know, I find you a nice medium in the situation and none of my rebuttles are directed towards you, especially the ellipsis'.
i have a really bad habit when posting on forums to use ellipsis for some reason....i dont know where i picked it up... it even bothers me...lol...but i cant stop...... yes..i can see how you view it as cheating...i on the other hand...dont think it matters...and am waiting to see what bungie has to say about it..if bungie says it wrong..and bans users for it..i will join your cause...i have the utmost faith in bungie and believe they will do what is deemed right by them for their game but for now..they dont care..and neither do i

We have this massive thread now showcasing a cheater, who's an upstanding person in the gaming community (or we thought he was) and Bungie obviously knows about this case, this is why we're using him as an example. Your post reminded me of Chris Crocker and his Leave Britney Alone video (no offense,) this just brings me to think that Arenas is really enjoying this attention (like Chris Crocker.)
Don't EVER compare me to CC. He's an idiot who thinks real news like 9/11 < Britney K-Fed news I'm just saying give the dude a break, he isn't hurting anyone and it isn't fair to showcase him off when there are thousands doing the same thing and hundreds snitched on, on these forums.

 •
Posted by: GaNgStUh FeLoN That isn't cheating really..
How can a bunch of 3 second doubles matches with no kills and him winning not be cheating? That could only be possible for Chuck Norris who could cause anyone on the opposing team to lose all bowel control spontaneously by will alone. That would probably make the other team always quit out immediately but that's about it.

 •
Posted by: spryggun I'd also like to say that if Arenas is not punished for this, the integrity of the rank system is called into question. When I see somebody with 4-stars or whatever in their rank, I want to know that they earned every experince point. Now I look at the more impressive insignias, and have to wonder if they were earned fairly or not.
I stated many pages ago: Perma ban this guy or the ranking system is out the window within a month of release. Bungie not banning players for this activity goes against the earlier claims that the system is designed to ensure even and fair games against players of simular skill. That is why this affects us all Hashman! Mr. Arenas and other cheaters that artificially inflate their exp and or rank are throwing off the system. Bungie should be pissed!

 •
Posted by: Get Stoked Here's the deal, please, open your mind for a second... I understand it's in Socials and I also understand he's not hurting anyone... but listen: There is a rank, that he's boosting to get that many people work legitimately hard for. So, you've got the legit players who play every chance they get and slowly move up in their ranks and get satisfaction from it. Then you have the CHEATER who boosts his rank up, the same one that others (like myself) try to get legitimately... it's not fair that he can get away with that, it's breaking the TOS for Xbox Live even... He's cheating the system (did you know Matchmaking was not meant for boosting? I did, thought that was obvious) and getting a rank for show, while we work our asses off online to move up in the ranks. That... is.... cheating... and... it... matters... to... me.... and... a... lot... of.... others... obviously... Do you understand that?
I'd like to think that I have made it clear that I understand many of the issues at play here. That I can appreciate and see the legitimate and valid points on either side of the various lines that are drawn here. Inserting an ellipsis after each word isn't required to assist with my grasp. If you weren't speaking to me, but perhaps to someone else, you may find that quoting the person to whom you are responding (in whole or in part) can help avoid confusion in the medium of a message board.

So because he made himself win 25 games in Social Doubles (Without the use of standby or DoS) now he is suspected on all of his ranks?
