having the same problem. and don't give me the bs about my router.. never had an issue after 3 years with live and never showed up during the beta..i hope they have a fix coming soon.. only problem i have had other than shotty snipers blowing...

It's because they're are hundreds of thousands of players online on Halo 3 at the same time as you. Usually this goes away and loads properly after about a minute or it blinking. Just....wait....

Turn off your 360 and unplug your ethernet chord from your 360 and then unplug your Modem from the power source. Plug the ethernet chord back in after about one minute and then plug the modem back into the power source. Start your 360 back up and it should work.

I've seen it happen with some really cheap routers. If its happening very constantly, post your routers make and model, and I'll see if I can figure out why it works so poorly.

I am sick of this i have ben waitin from release to be able to play MM, and still nothing! I live in uxembourg my router is speedtouch, everything one x box 360 live works except MM , even co op custom forge and theatre work with my friends online! I have been to every bloody forum can find, done every fix there is , and stil nothing!, Bungie please just tell me what the hell is going on?, is it my router, im gonna try my box at a friends house today.

The actual fault is most likely that the H3 servers are crapping out due to so many connections being made; if the error doesn't disapear when you reset your 360, you've got no choice but to wait until you can successfully make a connection. Hopefully, this is another issue that'll be resolved quickly. Of course, as per usual, having an Open NAT always helps with networking issues, and anything that is limiting your connection in any way could be a potential hinderance in making a connection through to download matchmaking data required to play on Xbox Live. 10 days ago I had the problem 100% of the time, if you have never been able to get online because of that message you ain't going to like what I have to say. Like I say I couldn't play H3 online at all, nore could a friend of mine, and we both had the same router, that AOL give away free. I looked the problem up on the bungie site and basically there are going to be routers which won't work with the game, even if they get you onto live. Both me and my friend went and brought new netgear routers and have not had the problem since. I spent hours trying to reconfigor my old router with no luck. Basically If you have never been online with H3 then it's your router, and nothing else seem to fix this. With what I have read it won't just be AOL routers. Also my old router caused these problems with other games GRAW 2 Couldn't get on the ubisoft server to download the free nowhere map. Forza 2 Culdn't get on the aution site. The problem is there are so many different routers out there that, it could be 101 problems so bungie won't be able to help, as they would need to be experts in every router make. I can say the new out netgear RangeMax "next" although £120.00 runs 1 pc downloading film, a nintendo wii online gaming and h3 online all at the same time with no lag. Quick fix: go to the campaign lobby and let a level load. You don't have to start the mission, you just have let it load up.

Same problem, companies do not like to tell the public about issues due to sales. Just give it a few days and it will stop I am sure, reset your modem, router etc and try to disable auto sign in. I have been struggling with this for about 2 days and I changed my gamer tag 2 days ago. Keep shutting your 360 off and on until it starts working I have it happened after every 5-10 games and its annoying as hell. Good luck to al of us and lets hope for a fix within the next week. I believe that it means that information could not be retrieved from the Halo 3 server. =p But in all seriousness, its an error that some people have been getting lately. Not sure what the cause is, but I'm sure it will be fixed soon.
