*spoilers* *spoilers* *spoiler* first question...have you played through all 3 games from beginning to end and actually paid attention to the story and what is being said? second question...have you read any of the books or comic or graphic novel? (not important really) the reason I'm asking you this is because all you have to do is pay attention and all of the big questions are answered very clearly... *spoilers below* In Halo 3 Guilty Spark clearly says "You are Forerunner"...meaning that Present Humans are direct descendants of the Forerunner if you read the text in the Terminals you see that Earth and Humans are being watched by the Forerunner, almost guiding us in a way...they indexed us (saved or restarted) us when they activated the Halo's to keep us alive and to start over once the Halo's fired. We are the Forerunner and we technically built Guilty Spark to guide is through this should it happen again. It just so happens that we weren't advanced enough to realize this because we were launched in the war before we were ready. PM me if you want more clarification, I won't give you bum scoop like these other trolls that want you to believe that the Forerunner are machines that built themselves and we time travel and do this loop over and over like the Matrix
