Tsavo Highway is seriously way to hard on Legendary

Don't say I suck, it just shows your ignorance and the lack of the ability to read the rest of the post. Firstoff, everyone is familiar with the thing called difficulty ramp, right? This is nonexistent on Tsavo Highway. Some parts I could get through with experience, but it didn't match the difficulties of the previous two levels, which were fun. The big thing is, maybe the only real thing is is the sudden stop in pace, where you're forced to get out of the warthog and fight on foot with almost no cover. The battle ahead where you have to defend a Marine outpost is regularly easy, but if you don't have anything with headshots, it's impossible. The Sniper Rifle has very limited ammo, the Carbine runs out quickly with the stupid amount of Jetpack Brutes and Captains, Battle Rifles are non existent. It is quite possible to use the hefty load of trip mines, but Brutes have smartened up since Halo 2. A trip mine will usually only take out one, however. I couldn't get any more than that. The biggest thing that made it somewhat possible on heroic was the turret, this is also gone. No more mauling Brutes and preparing for the Chieftan and Wraith. Which I didn't have enough ammo to kill. So, I needed a Beam Rifle, I managed to jut my way back all the way back. But guess what? Everything disapered. Every single weapon and vehicle(except some hogs, which can't even get through). Nothing. So I went back(curious, it checkpointed as I was scouting), and when I came back, no more Wraith. Good, then I eliminated the remaining 3 Brutes, the Chief, head Captain and some Minor. and I expected some Pelicans to drop some Marines and a Hog or two. Guess what? Nothing. I was left with a Carbine and Fuel Rod Cannon, the Fuel Rod Cannon useless against tanks on Legendary. I've tried it. I pecked a Chopper, chopped the way through and had the worst time with the 3 Wraiths at the hilly part. Seriously, a lot of auto awarness and perfect accuracy. This is where I boil. It's not hard, it's frustrating. It's not fun. It's pointless. Not even Flood levels are this bad, and the Flood were never really that hard. I eventually beat the level. I guess the only thing I got out of it was the EOD Chest. What I'm trying to say? An update is needed to get rid of the absent Pelican problem. That just makes it frustrating. We need more defenses for the holdout, we can't just have a Sniper Rifle that can only kill about 4 Brutes, some trip mines and a Carbine, which of course, sounds like a lot, but you go through about 4 waves. Not fun. I want the game fair for this level and is challenging not frustrating, every other level seems just fine. Tsavo is just stupid. Go ahead and flame away. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, don't get worked up about it. P.S: I meant by yuorself classic kickass way. Of course it's easy in co op, but it should be able to be done by yourself. So don't give me that. And If you're the type of person who must kill everything, such as myself. I don't like running unless I have too(Two Betrayals, ugh) [Edited on 10.01.2007 8:25 PM PDT]

 • I just handed out a bunch of fuel rod guns. One from an earlier battle, one carried by a marine I had brought from earlier, and one I had myself. It was freaking insane--they managed to destroy one phantom before it even started to unload. The only survivor was a brute with no armor, hiding under a piece of wreckage.

 • I also got stuck in that large open area after the Warthog part. I was doing great until the last dropship (and the Wraith). It also didn't help that there were like 20 Brutes, half of them with jetpacks, one with a Fuel Rod. I got a checkpoint far away on the opposite side, but I was out of BR and stuck with an AR and an empty Fuel Rod that I had taken out the last wave with. What I did was, I ran to the left and got up on the side of the wall, and quickly got behind the buildings before the Wraith could bombard me with giant plasma balls. A couple Brutes with jetpacks came swooping down, which I took out with the 2 Spike Grenades I still had. I quickly grabbed the Carbine and went to work on the enemies guarding the two bases further up. After taking out a sufficient number of them, I strafed left further up the canyon and shot two more Brutes with the Carbine all while dodging the Wraith blasts. Then I dropped down at the far base, ran in and grabbed a Sniper Rifle, and took out all the other Brutes. Finally, I made my way towards the Wraith and, just before boarding it, I dropped a flare to make sure the turret guy couldn't shoot me while I was pounding away. Then the Pelican finally dropped down to give me a Warthog to plow through the rest of the level. For the area with the 3 Wraiths, I did my best to avoid them while escorting my gunner around killing the Choppers. Then I used some extremely careful maneuvering to take out the Wraiths one by one, just getting close enough for the gunner to pop some rounds in. I did this for a while until all but one of the Wraiths were down, then I ran up the hill and disarmed the last Wraith, allowing me to commandeer it and plow through the rest of the level with ease.

 •
Posted by: sebasguate15 HA HA HA HA!!!! it's cake compare to playing it on legendary with 7 out of 9 gold skulls turned on
Well duh?....fool. I like to see any one beat a level on legendary with 7/9 skulls on...just 2 or 3 can make parts of the game impossible. Anyways wait till you get to cortana that will be a boat load of fun for you, heres a tip save your spike/plasma nades for spiky pureforms and have a sword on hand for the big guys. Anyways they need to make it so you can't skip that part and just add a tiny bit more BR/Sniper ammo in the outpost. [Edited on 10.01.2007 8:50 PM PDT]

 • hey dude.. not trying to flame you... but i thought tsavo highway was not that bad on ledgendary... it definetly gets worse. maybe this will help you... i found out that bungie put lots of little secret amo areas in the game.... on tsavo highway.. specifically the part where you see jetpack brutes and hella transport enemy drops... go back towards th elast checkpoint and find a way to get ontop of the tunnel thing... there is lots of sniper amo up there and you can snipe brutes from a far distance... keep tryign and keep looking for little ammo dumps... they are there.

 • i have to disagree with a statement in the holdout part, there are battle rifles, infact a whole crate of five, inthe back of the base, it is fliped over when i find it, but a grenade solves that problum. i was stuck for about 45 minutes there, before the battle rifle and my eirler fuel rod shots alowed me to kill the tank, i even had enough ammo to give to the marines that thouched down after a fual rod gun to help in the next wraith part, which was segnificantly eaiser with that one gun.

 • when the phantom came I blew it up with the fuel gun the chieftain dropped and the debris blocked the wraith from advancing on me. Don't forget to use your spike grenades theyre good against the jetpackers who usually land right in front of you

 • Please don't complain about difficulty. I don't want Bungie to make any more enemies noobcakes like they did the Flood in Halo 3.

There are two glowing "orbs", I guess you could call them, on each side of the front. With just 4 shots of the fuel rod cannon into one of those orbs, it'll go down easy. On top of that, the wreckage is good cover for any remaining enemies and the Wraith. But I completely agree with you on the hilly part, it's horrible, but not nearly as bad as *slight spoilers in case anyone hasn't gotten this far* the fight with the two Scarabs on The Covenant on legendary by yourself. I must have died and retried 30 times minimum.

On topic: I agree Tsavo can get horribly annoying. 36 deaths on first Heroic run. Yes, 36. Most were caused by the Wraiths, others from my idiotic recklessness.

 •
Posted by: bansheeownz Yeah I know what you're talking about. The holdout with the Wraith and the Phantom. I was by myself too and it was insanely difficult for me too. My Warthog spawned though. Strange. Are you sure you killed everything?
(this will be my last re reply) I would think so, I checked all around the holdout, unless a Jumppack got out of the map or something. And Johnson said over the channel "birds comin in" or something. So obviously something screwed itself. [Edited on 10.01.2007 8:30 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: TheLightOfSpeed It's good that you can't beat it on Legendary. It keeps you coming back for more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's logical for it to be that hard, but it's good that there's at least one impossible bit in the same. IWHBYD was a real letdown, as I was expecting another Elite battle... This sort of makes up for it.
Huh? I beat the level. It's just not enjoyable by yuorself. I have tried pulling a Chopper through, I could try that sometime, but still, the glitch I described was just dumb. [Edited on 10.01.2007 8:27 PM PDT]

 • I played for a good hour on the part you're describing, and I agree: Legendary, solo, sucks right there. It sucks worse during Cortana, but it sucks right there too. I ended up just sneaking around, and running away from, half the Brutes.

 • are you reffering to the final stretch because there you can drive the warthog through, just look for gaps in the roadblocks, drive through (on the lefthand side beside the cliff), then drive by the brutes and jum out past the plasma sheild block thing and shoot randomly while heading backwards to the end. if you are reffering to the section where the phantoms come to get you you can always hide in the pipes, thaking potshots untill the brutes armour is destroyed then you are but a beat-down away from killing the beserkers.

 • I got stuck at the marine outpost part with the ridiculous amounts of brutes as well. However, you need to think outside of the box. You know what's plentiful? Plasma guns. You know what they're good for? Removing the Brutes' armor and making the wraith unable to move. I ended up hiding in the pipes, overcharging all the brutes, killing them with either the trip mine, BR or grenade and then eventually board the wraith. Granted I died a couple of times, it was much easier than just shooting them with carbines and br, and then hope they would all die.

 • There's a BR ammo crate in the Marine outpost. Just pick off the brutes one by one. Shouldn't be too hard. Chop through the choppers and jack a wraith and you should be good.
