Chapters are generally posted weekly, though i discuss each chapter's release date beforehand so confusion does not ensue. If anyone knows anything about the Halo 2 book, or what comes after it, let me know. Cause if nothing's happening with it, im gonna write it. Here's the prelude to halo 3(?)... Prologue Ninth Age of Reclamation/First age of Rebirth Yielding Righteousness/ Current Flagship The doors opened as the Arbiter walked into the Grand Chamber, seeing rows of his brethren. His Sangheili. They all uniformly bowed down on one knee, their heads to facing the ground. The Arbiter turned to his Spec-ops captain, now the general of the armies, and said, “You never told me there would be this many.” “I thought you would like being surprised, Arbiter.” He showed a grin, at least as best a Sangheili could. They started walking through the main aisle, with an honor guard walking behind them as protection. The Arbiter felt that the presence of the honor guards was not necessary, but understood the honor they must feel to be here, especially now. Walking past each new row allowed all to stand in that row, which alerted the Arbiter of some discrepancy. He turned his head left, and saw several rows of Lekgolo, their massive bodies gracefully rising as he passed. And further ahead, even more rows were filled with the small Unggoy, who fidgeted even while trying to keep their composer. And they all were bowing. He looked back at the Lekgolo, shocked at the amount of them in one room. He had never seen so many, and they could easily overpower the entire ship if they wanted to, but they also didn’t carry their normal weaponry, which attached directly to their arms. The Arbiter forced himself to look away so not to draw attention to himself in any negative aspect, for it could ruin his purpose here today. They climbed the ramp up to the stage, where the honor guard behind them went to the right side of him, and to the left he saw another waiting for his arrival. The Arbiter went to the front of the stage, and the Captain/General stayed behind several steps. He looked upon the crowd, understanding that the future may rest upon their shoulders. The chamber had fallen dead silent now, and the Arbiter scanned the room once more. He stood tall and came to the very edge of the stage. “As you all know, I am the Arbiter. I have been chosen for this… this honor, by our previous leaders. However, there may be those among you who believe that their word is heresy, regardless of when it was said. And because of my rank, my position, I will become the leader of our group, our new covenant. If anyone disagrees with my appointment as the Arbiter, speak now.” The chamber stayed noiseless, but faces animated and expressions came to color. The Arbiter looked back to his Captain/General, who nodded to him. Suddenly, one Sangheili stepped out of his row, and yelled, “Long live the Arbiter!” As the Arbiter turned back to his audience, he found that he was deafened by the cheering of his name. A wave of relief struck him, and he held his hands to show silence was required. Moments later, it was so. “You all honor me with this privilege, yet I must postpone our celebration for another time. This meeting is one of urgency, where three important things must be discussed. The first of which being the creating of a new Grand Council. After this meeting, all not stationed upon the Yielding Righteousness are to return to their home planets to decide on the council members.” “Our next goal will be to secure as many Huragok as possible. They are a necessity on every ship, world, and army. If we can take many away from the Prophets, it will give us a strategic advantage against them. They will undoubtedly be attempting the same, but we cannot allow them to take any Huragok, or the upper hand will be theirs. Do not forget their usefulness, even in the heat of battle.” The Arbiter sighed, and looked up at the lights, then directly into the holocron monitor, which was projecting his face among countless worlds. “The final article is something that has come into my thoughts several times during these past few days, something I would like express to you. The Prophets have always asked each race to join the covenant, or even allow them honorable submission, but not the Humans. These Humans are a strange race, yet nothing about them is notable in any sense with the exception to the demon. Regardless, it makes no sense for the Prophets to ‘fear’ these Humans. But I understand why they do. I have fought and killed them, as well as fought beside them as allies.” Whispers appeared throughout the room, and the Arbiter raised his voice to overrun them. “Wait!”, he yelled, and the chamber’s only sound was the Arbiter’s echoing voice. “Through my experience with these Humans, they fight with the same honor we would, use clever tactics as we do, and will die for victory if necessary. And now that we are not at the prophet’s side to protect them, they have much to fear of the Humans!” Cheers wailed throughout the room, and a group of Unggoy began jumping up and clapping. The Arbiter allowed the crowd to settle down by themselves before speaking again. “From now on, if you should see a Jiralhanae, Yanme, Kig-yar, or a Prophet, you are to conquer them, and show them who truly is strong.” He smiled as best a Sangheili could. “Even more so for the Kig-yar, if you know what I mean.” Laughter broke out, especially through the rows of Unggoy. The Arbiter walked off the stage, followed closely by both honor guards and his Captain/General. Suddenly the laughter turned to applause, as the Unggoy yelled, and the Lekgolo and Sangheili bowed again to one knee. The Unggoy followed suit quickly. With each passed row, the rising covenant would chant “Long live the Arbiter!” The Captain/General whispered gently to the Arbiter as they walked down the aisle, “ It would seen that you left a good impression with the covenant.” “No, we are not the Covenant anymore. We are the Preeminent." If you guys like this, let me know, I have about 10 more pages written, in no partucular order, and can post them if anyone wants to read them. [Edited on 12/17/2006]

 • Hey guys, quick update. I promised to be working on the Sequel, and i've been reading over the chapters that i've been writing. Pretty painful, if i may say so myself. Still, its something to work with and i've got the storyline all ready for departure. So i'll finally have my chance to start work on it now. The other thing i worked on (that i mentioned last time, as a short fanfic for the Ghosts of Onyx contest) took forever, and I'll post it as soon as i'm allowed to. Obviously its being read by several people and I don't want to offset anything until i have confirmation that I can post it here. Its about 20 pages long and is really story oriented, but i think it was a strong one nonetheless. More on that later. By the way, when reading the stuff i wrote for the sequel, i found only 7 chapters, although i clearly remember writing 8. I think i'm missing one, but can't seem to find it. If anyone by any chance has it, i'd be very appreciated towards them for it. Alright, and now for the actual writing of the next chapters: I'll be working on the very beginning of the sequel, although i have a feeling it will change in the future. Still, i have to start somewhere, and will be using different writing instruments as sort of a testing grounds to try different things. So there'll probably be some really crappy stuff and hopefully some really good stuff. Either way. OOO! Just got news about the contest entry! I can post it, and thus i will. Here it is! Breaking Quarantine 2: Liberation Chapter 1 The stench of Tartarus’ corpse seeped into Sergeant A.J. Johnson’s breath. He glanced back and everyone looked at 343 Guilty Spark. “It is in sector 3842740,” it said. As 343 spoke, a three dimensional map displayed a hologram of the seven Halo rings. A point in the middle flashed. The image zoomed in on the blinking dot while the rest of the picture fell out of focus. Clusters of stars passed, then tens, and finally it stopped at a binary star system. Several planets rotated around the stars, but the image shifted above them. The system was elliptical, with the majority of planets orbiting on the axis of the sun. The planets were no longer visible and only the top of the stars touched the bottom of the picture, and a dark space was projected. Johnson looked at it and squinted, and it slowly lost focus and reverted to the floating image of Halo. “I know where that is.” Cortana? — As her systems initialized with the computers, Cortana couldn’t help but feel proud. Not for too long though…only .07 milliseconds. Sending a message for remote playback while in a state of flux was no easy feat. Her pattern synchronized and Cortana displayed her image with the holographic projector. She took the place of Halo rather abruptly, but it made no difference. As long as she was up and running. “We should evacuate this ring. And take the index with us.” Commander Miranda Keyes brushed her hand on the index, now safely secure on her belt. She nodded briefly and smiled. The Arbiter turned away and spoke, sub vocalizing into his radio, relaying orders. Miranda walked up to the console. “Cortana…how do we get you out of here?” Cortana searched for an answer, but it required little of her full processing power. As she preformed the search, she downloaded the mission logs from both Keyes and Johnson from their neural lace’. Commander Keyes’ log described as Cortana presumed: she was captured, held prisoner, and taken to the control center to activate Halo. Then she read through Johnson’s and found a major discrepancy, one she hadn’t seen before. She didn’t have any idea how it was possible. Johnson was also captured, and was split up from Keyes. To ensure they couldn’t communicate and try to escape, undoubtedly. But the log showed that the Phantom, the Covenant dropship that Johnson was on, was attacked. After it crashed, there was no log. Nothing at all. Even if Johnson was unconscious, there should have been something. His health reading, the time and date...but there was nothing. Simultaneously, Cortana had cracked into the Covenant battle network. It was a jumble of mixed messages, but she immediately understood that the Covenant was fighting amongst themselves. From what she could tell, the majority of the fleet was commanded by the Prophets, while the remainder was unknown. She glanced over at the Arbiter momentarily and realized that he had been working with Keyes and Johnson. Bearing his rank in mind, the portion of the Covenant fleet being destroyed was probably led by the Elites. She needed an exit, in several ways. To get herself out of High Charity’s computer system, get the Commander and Johnson away safely, and get off Halo and back to Earth. The problem was that she was stuck on High Charity and was only able to communicate with Halo’s computers because she had gained remote access. There was no way to download herself to Halo. Power was limited on High Charity due to the damage it had taken by the Flood attack. And when the In Amber Clad landed on it, her fate was sealed. Cortana restructured the search, removing her escape from High Charity. Getting Keyes and the index off of Halo was her first priority. The In Amber Clad was out of the question; it had crash landed on High Charity, and even if she managed to gain control of it, the statistical chance that it could even leave High Charity’s atmosphere was laughable. The only option she found was to rely on the Arbiter. Seismic activity on High Charity tripled, and half her processing power turned to the occurrence. She opened a channel to Keyes and said, “Commander, the only way to get you off this ring is if you go with the Arbiter. There is no other alternative; you must secure the index. As long is it is on Halo, everyone is in danger.” “Understood.” Cortana also opened a channel to Johnson, separate from Keyes. The Commander had her own diplomatic endeavor to deal with, while Johnson would hopefully shed some light on his curious hour away from his own neural lace. Cortana couldn’t help but ask. “Sergeant, what happened to you after your dropship was attacked?” Johnson saw Keyes speaking with the Arbiter, and turned his back to them and spoke quietly into his receiver. “We crashed hard. I must have lost consciousness, ‘cause when I woke up, there was nothin’ but ruins. I pulled my ass out of there ASAP and found my way to that Scarab. And I’m guessing you know the story from there.” Another burst of seismic activity distracted Cortana. It was as though High Charity was being ripped from the inside out, but by what? The Flood were on High Charity, but how were they causing such a ruckus? “That doesn’t explain what happened during that hour you were unconscious. Your neural lace was offline during that time, and there’s no explanation for it.” He didn’t respond. There was no way he could know what had happened to him while he was unconscious. Still, she didn’t like the fact that there was even the possibility of the lace being shut off for any period of time without having an authorized shut down, which would have been logged, both when the connection was terminated and restarted. Yet it wasn’t. And the lace was still operational, which removed the chance of equipment failure. Cortana reset her priorities, highlighting Johnson’s missed hour. The power on High Charity fluctuated, nearly shutting down all of Cortana’s higher functions. She managed to assign minimal power to her necessary systems and shut down everything else. She had to stay online for as long as possible, in case the Commander was compromised and she needed to activate the reactors on the In Amber Clad. Then suddenly a voice cut through her thoughts. A deep, dark voice which she only heard once before. “Silence fills the empty grave, now that I have come. But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on.” Tentacles came through the door across the panel that Cortana was stationed in. They reached for her. “I will ask, and you will answer.” The Flood leader, only known to Cortana as a Gravemind, was the intelligence of the Flood. It commanded and controlled the entirety of the Flood with unprecedented precision. She looked at the discussion taking place on Halo between Keyes and the Arbiter, which seemed to be going well. Keyes walked over to the command console, and at the same time the Gravemind’s tentacles had reached Cortana. “I have to stay inside the system,” she told the Commander. “There’s no way for me to come with you. As long as I’m here, I can detonate the In Amber Clad, if necessary.” Miranda looked at Cortana’s holographic image, which shuddered momentarily, then returned to its pristine state. She looked down, a motion Cortana understood as dismay. “I want you to monitor our movements and stay in contact. Stay in touch.” “Aye aye ma’am.” As the hologram disappeared and was replaced once again by the image of Halo, Cortana appeared above the console on High Charity and held a hand up, stopping the closest tentacle. “Alright; shoot.”
