Forerunner and a Prophet

Warning: This thread contains Prophecy and possibly spoilers (I haven't played the game). If you are prone to flaming, you have been warned! Welcome to my mother of all thread (thus far). For those of you who are familiar with my previous posts on the topic, this is new stuff. I have handpicked several passages from The Word. They're quite frightening at how they are appearently coincidental... Or I'm just crazy (I like both answers). If anyone would like a list of the passage titles, simply PM me for them and I'll be more than happy to send 'em your way. (If you are not a skeptic of my findings, skip this paragraph) I understand that some (if not, most or all of you) do not believe as I believe. But for all of you skeptics out there, please try to answer these questions: Where else do you hear about the Flood wiping out entire populations? Where else do you hear about the Prophets of the Covenant? Where else do you hear about the Reclaimer bringing salvation to mankind? With that said, let the intrigue begin! (any thoughts I add will be italicised)

 • Interesting observations Ice weasel.. But just to clarify, I'm sure that the developers decided to take these references from the bible deliberately rather than it being some strange coincidence (as some reading this post may misleadingly believe).. Now if you think about it there are many reasons for them doing this.. the biggest being that in order for a team of writers to 'engineer' a religious fanatical group such as the covenant (bearing in mind that the main consideration would be to create them as rich and as detailed in their history, background & beliefs as possible so as to lead to a much deeper and believable gaming experience when playing) the easiest way to 'create' their religion would be to draw from research into actual religions that exist in the world today.. Now every religion has its own set of texts or doctrines that they follow, so its a logical step to examine those which are readily available (in a unversal language and thats easily accessible) in order to 'engineer' a fictional version for the game (i mean, could you imagine how long it would take for a developer to try to 'create' a 'fictional bible' from scratch with nothing to base it off??) So basically it not suprising that there are correlations between the christian scriptures and those used within the halo universe by the covenant.. Also its not the first time games developers have drawn on the bible for 'inspiration'.. If you recall the names of some creatures mentioned in the scriptures (Behemoth, Leviathan, Incubi, Succubi, Dragons, etc etc..) which have also had 'interpretations' which have been used in many a game, film, book and other forms of fiction.. (not the best analogy i kno but it'll do for now..) So I guess the bible (being probably the only religious text that is so easily accessible that u can find one anywhere) is definately the easiest place to find enough reference to base any fictional religion on.. - Archangel Morph -
