As an old Myth player, I have a few guess what it is. Myth had something that was awesome, it was the "Celestials" (Comet, Moons etc.) where the top 6 players were ranked by special Celestial icons (they were unique to only one player). I remember because I was the Comet (the highest possible rank) for Myth and Myth 2 several times and every time I entered a room I was treated like a god by all the other users. It was crazy awesome. There were icons for everyone though, at each level of experience there was an icon. This showed everyone how much experience you had. The Celestial icons however were for only the top 6 players in the world and were unique and special.
Myth also had a stats searching feature where you could click on a users name and do something like .stats (i forget exactly) and it would give you the details of that player. That might be it also, but my money is on the Celestial ranking icons for the top players... that RULED! There was something very magical about seeing the greatest player in the world walk into your room, and alternatively, being the greatest player and going into the room and seeing everyone GASP in awe knowing they were just near you lol.
Also, if you look at the Mister Chief pic, there are 6 Mister Chiefs... well, there were exactly 6 Celestials in Myth and Myth 2... coincidence? I think not. :)
I would love to see them also add the stats feature of Myth as well, where in-game on the fly you could highlight a users name and check out all of his stats. Doing this also (in Myth) allowed for a host to see if a user was worthy to stay in the room or if he was a spaz trying to exploit the system (BC Trow). A replay feature would rock as well. I hope they add all three, but money says the Celestial icon ranking of the top 6 players is what the guy in the article was talking about. The pic I think was another clue to that.
P.S. I wanted to just point this out to all the non Myth players (shame on you if you never played the greatest game of alltime ;)!).
Also, the Celestial rankings for the top 6 players was not the only icons that represented rank. It's just those were exclusive (nobody but one person had those icons). Leading up to the Celestial icons there were other icons that represented your skill level; from a total newbie (an icon of a single dagger) all the way to a very experienced player (an icon of a crown) and a ton of different icons in between representing different levels of experience. It was a quick way to roughly guage the level of talent a player had. Just looking at the icon next to their username told you (it didn't however mean they were any better though, as some low level dudes could beat higher level dudes). But it was a nice way to know if the matchups were somewhat even (this helped against accidentally putting two experienced players -represented by crown icons- against two total newbies -represented by a dagger icon-).
I believe this is what they are reffering to in this update. He spoke of icons in it, he also gave us a clue with the 6 Mister Chiefs, and it was something in the Myth games that a lot of people loved.
