• i don´t think that it is a brute weapon, because it is too primtive for the covenant, the name sounds very human, the brutes wouldn´t paint a face on their wapon and it would be much too strong if it burns through the armor. I think it´s defenitly a human weapon.

 • it better burn through chiefs armor, think about it, this is probably a brute weapon and if so why whould they(the brutes) design something that couldn't kill their rival but could fry their furry ass, sorry for the language little ones

 •
Posted by: Crunchbite_xsv I going to bet a few of you have played a game called halo 2. In case you haven't go buy a copy and fire it up. Begin a new campaign on any difficulty you like. In the first level you will come to some fire. Don't be shy now, go ahead, stand in it. You know what happens? Nada. I wonder if this will be a campaign only weapon because it seems like a pretty useless weapon against shielded enemies. The grenade is a different story. It is apparently filled with something on par with thermite which is much more effective at burning through things. I'm going to go ahead and assume the flamethrower will be campaign-only, unless the chief gets an armor downgrade.....
Its weird that this so called campain only weapon was showed on Snow Bound which is a multiplayer map. As for some who complained about weapon and the powerfulness for MLG type games. In the last podcast it sounded like MP games are free range custom, it seems like Bungie will make it easy for you to eliminate or add weapons at your pleasing to any map in Custom games.

 • Sorry if already asked. Only read page 1. Just wondering what physics are involved in applying flame to the game. Is it going to be able to stick to your armour like a liquid or will the flames be concentrated to the spot where they are initially positioned?

 •
Posted by: original smead
Anyone know if the flame thrower is reloadable?
Since it's a support weapon, I'd say no.
Agreed ...I'd say you'd have to pick up another when out of ammo as opposed to being able to reload ...just like you have to do with the missle pods and the turrets

 •
Posted by: gEArs oF Halo182
Posted by: Sniper Evo86 i dont understand how that grenade works or what it does...
i think it emits like flames or something? im not sure
It burns everything within the specified radius ...you'll likely witness personnel burning for a short while before they meet their death

 • someone mentioned before that the flamethrower was the human version of the sentinel beam for anti-flood attacks. i don't think so. the flame thrower is like a turret weapon. actually i believe it's exactly like the huge missle launcher you can rip off a stand. you have maybe 8-10 shots of about 4 seconds worth of flaming. not overly useful in campaign i would think. the sentinel beam was just a straightfoward energy weapon that you could fire for any amount of time you want. of course, it does overheat and eventually run out of energy. i can't see the flamethrower being very useful in too many places at all. it'd be like a super shotgun (useful in close-quaters) that restricts your movements cause its so darn heavy. love the idea of the fire bombs though. THEY'D be useful against mass piles of the flood, or any other type of enemy really.

 • what the -blam!- bungie? the grenade looks tight a nice new twist BUT....flamethrower? i love halo for the game it is and the weapons that are in it, i have never ever played a game where i actually liked the flamethrower cause game developers have never created a decent one. unless you can figure out a really good way to incorporate this and make it balanced and cool and fun to use so when i walk by it i can go, "oh -blam!- the flamethrower!" and pick it up over another weapon....i will be very dissapointed. i thought the bubble shield was going to be stupid but i played the beta and it was actually really -blam!- tight and you guys proved me wrong, BUT until i see this fire spitter in action ill be doubtful.

 • Ive noticed that some of you guys who think that the flamethrower will be ineffictive at dispatching a spartan in MOJLINR armour dont have any problem with the incendiary grenade because it burns at a very high temp (2000 deg c). Napalm burns at 800-1200 deg c and has been around for over 30 years. However a new modern variety of "super napalm" has been createed using enriched polystyrene, sodium, magnesium or phosphorus that will burn at 1500-2000 deg c. Now, by 2552ish im sure we will have a more complete knowledge of chemistry and the elements that we have yet to discover and will be able to create an uber napalm that can burn at an even higher temperature. Also, MOJLINR is made of some super alloy witch means that it is made of metal. Guess what? Once any metal reaches a certain temperature it WILL melt, reguardless of how bad-ass an alloy it is. One more thing. covenant energy weapons use superheated plasma to kill targets. The plasma burns through anything it hits including Master Chiefs MOJLINR armour. You guys dont seem to have a problem with that so why should you have a problem with a uber napalm flame thrower? I end my rant on a good note... I love halo!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is all

 • Holy god in hell! The flamethrower is screwed up again! Why can nobody make a descent flamethrower?! Flamethrowers don't produce clouds of fire! They produce STREAMS of fire! It is really, extremely uninteresting to see clouds of fire floating out from a gun. If the visuals for this don't improve by the final game, I think I'm just going to cry. I hope Bungie can live with me crying! (not possible). no comment on the fourth grenade. Not enough info to know what its all about.
