Marathon 2: Durandal Video walkthrough-ish thingy [COMPLETED]
Well, the old adage goes that a picture is worth a thousand words. So I was thinking about doing some movies of Durandal to help people out. So how much is a movie worth? Recon's mum says hers are worth $19.99 for each vid with a option to cancel at any time. I think I'll make my walk through vids for free...
Alright, I know that Durandal can be a little confusing sometimes, and it's easy to get lost amongst the bright shiny Marathon goodness. So while I was playing today, I took the time to record everything. Typically the vids only show the quickest ways to get through the levels. They are by NO means complete walk-throughs. However, if you happen to get stuck on a certain part, come to this thread and download the chapter you need help with and maybe you'll find what you need.

Well as some of you may know that Mythica, the site I was using to host these videos went down a few months ago. So while I was at PAX this past weekend I ran into Louis Wu of Halo.Bungie.Org fame and asked about if he was able to salvage them before Mythica went under. He said he did, and so here they are!!!
All links should work 100% fine now. If you get a problem, feel free to post in the thread and I'll see what's going on. I downloaded the 1st and Last vid and both worked fine so I'm hoping the rest are the same.[/b][/i][/u]

Great vids. My attention span is about the length of a microbe so im usually just putting down the controller when something isnt working on the first try, this might elongonate my M2D experience. This is surely a "save thread". [Edited on 08.06.2007 5:53 PM PDT]

Although it is my sworn oath to hate hippies...thanks for the clarification on this Hippieman. I figured that there were probably some minor differences, but I am far from the expert to be able to spot them. Side note, when is the first weekly Freeverse vs. normies M2:D humpday challenge? I mean, what do you guys have to lose, you can't be worse than Bungie at their own games O.o ~B.B.

But different in ways you can't tell. Differences: Missing textures added to some levels. A few incorrect textures were fixed on Nuke and Pave. Two of the Juggernaught rooms on Sol were broken up and rebuilt to contain more polygons for monster pathing. Two triangle's were raised as the blue hunter liked getting stuck under them. Two hills were defined on Flight of the Toolitator and 5-D Space. A ball was added to one of the levels (I forget which) that was missing one.

If you download the movie, the switch is shown at 7 minutes and 24 seconds. That should answer your question. ~B.B.

Ex Cathedra was a bit of a pain for me. (until I discovered the hidden switch that makes that level sooo much shorter, and easier.) And now I can actually find out how I beat Nuke and Pave, and Curiouser and Curiouser...I have no idea what I did. Also, a question: Are the levels on the 360 M:D the same as the Aleph One version? Because that's what I play. Me no gots XBL.

I'm not looking to give people the answers straight-out. I want you to try to figure things out. But there are just times that you hit a roadblock. So look at the vids and see if they help. I mean, I spent hours looking through Ex Cathedra and couldn't find the answer. Hopefully this will help when you have no other option. ~B.B.

For example, I was playing through early on when I downloaded the game and could not figure out where in Ex Cathedra I was suppose to "deliver the package" at! Couldn't find it! I ran around the level for hours looking for it. The only time I actually made it through the level was I was playing co-op and the other person knew/was told where to go. Basically these vids are taking the place of that "other person". The person that might give you a clue or insight into where to go or what to do. That's it. Of course I want people to play through the game and figure out things for themselves. I want them to look through all the nooks and crannies of Marathon to find all the hidden goodies. But you shouldn't get stuck on a level for hours upon end like I was on Ex Cathedra and get pissed off. ~B.B.

im big as soon as you buy a game puting it on the hardest seting then trying to beat it with no help. but i do not think that thre is any problem wiht this some time people will get suck and get complety turned off of a game so in some casses it may be saying the game for them. and like was said befor its not as if hes forcing you to wach them

Also, there are plenty of ways/paths to make it through a level, I'm just showing what I use just in case people need a "suggestion". I mean, I'm not coming on here and telling people the storyline.
