Over the course of the Halo games I have never seen Master Chief show any sign of emotion. He never got excited in battle and he doesnt get depressed with everyone dyin around him. He might as well be a robot. Do you think in Halo 3 they are going to show more of Master Chiefs emotional side so we can look at him as more of a human? Discuss.

Nope those just get in the way
-
well he is human..duh it talks a lot in the books about his fellngs about dead marines and his spantan team
-
He doesn't feel emotions, emotions feel his fist in their face
-
He expresses emotion if u look in the e3 trailor (2007) when he pullz his gun on feh Arbiter he seems a lil mad dont ya think..also at the end of H3 i belive he may show either A.) He'z happy dat the humans have won B.) Sad at the loss of a fellow Spartain or Johnsons death (Johnson better not die in a stupid manner but i dont want him killed off) or at the death of Cortana (read the books it explains how smart AI dye)..... Also that Bungie will end H3 on a cliff hanger which would be likwe after the humans are vulnerable after thier victory in the war a new threat approaches from the shadows... dun dun dun...i also know there no h4 so dont call me an idiot because they can countinue the story in the eyez of another char or in the bookz

MC Is human - really a superhuman - Cyborg, But he has feeling, E3 vid he leaned for cortana halo CE them marines dieing...At end of Halo CE he was kinda upset after cortana said- "Just dust and echos, we're all thats left. We did what we had to do for earth"
-
Sometimes, late at night, Master Chief plays some country music, clutches a picture of Lee Marvin to his chest and sobs like a little baby. It says so in the diary that he keeps tucked under his Hello Kitty pillow.

I was watching a video and it showed cortana holding her head and yelling in a projection thing and MC bent down and what seems he was upset and worried
Posted by: Pen1tentTangent Of course he has feelings: Pain! (when you shoot him without a shield, he goes AH!!!)
Anyone that gets shot goes ahh weather you have feelings or not lol.
-
Of course he has feelings: Pain! (when you shoot him without a shield, he goes AH!!!) Edit: Oh, serious this time: You remember his reaction after seeing the marines' asses getting kicked in the video in Halo: CE??? He like shakes his head as if saying: "this can't be happening...." But it didnt seem like he was sad when searching for signs of life it could be just protocol that he has to scan the area, and there also could be a reason why he waited for cortana and it could be because she is the voice that tells him what to do. Now what do you think he will do without her, listen to command or make some choices for himself?
Posted by: OMG Its Renegade
Dude what books where you reading? he's not engineered he was born on an outter colony, he was taken away from his parents to join the Spartan Program
wow, your just plain genius aren't you? yes he was abducted at the age of six, but at the age of fourteen, him and the other Spartans underwent many biological enhancements, one making their bones virtually indestructible by combining them with a metal alloy. another to increase their vision and basically give them night vision. another group of steroid enhancements and so on and so forth. and as for the cyborg debate. hes not a cyborg unless he has the suit on. the only thing mechanical that is giving him extra physical attributes are his suit and Cortana. and of course he has emotion. when he sees Linda attacked he is very shaken up. and in the e3 trailer he is very upset with the arbiter and upset about something else.
Biological engineering means artificially creating something. That's why the correct word to use is augmentation, considering John wasn't created in a lab. So yes, he is the genius, and you are not. Also, the Chief is not a cyborg with or without his armor. Being a cyborg would mean his physical form is part human and part machine. The machine part is simply a suit of armor and that is all. He's a drugged up superhuman.

PATRIOTISM!
-
Master Chief indeed does have Deep feelings for his fellow spartans for he and they were all brother and sister since the day they met.
-
The Actual spartans were ACTUALLY bi-blam!-. They did eachother. I summarized that all for you guys and this is all fact.
-
ya hes human, and its war people r going to die
Posted by: bauer22 PROOF THAT MC HAS FEELINGS In the Halo CE level Keys where MC "kills'" the brain form of Keys by taking his brain implant he pauses until Cortana says "You know what he want us to do" If he had no feelings he would have just punched.
= Win good job but yea MC has feelings just bungie can only show them from body movements and pauses because hes hidden so bungie has to be clever and use mostly body language
-
He's like Jack Bauer. Plenty of emotion, just doesn't let it interfere with how he does things. He knows that he'll do his job better if he does it dispassionatly.
-
Yes. and ... no.
Posted by: Spartana Soilder Lol MC breaks down balling in the middle of a cutscene I CANT DO THIS AAHHHHHH
id be like...yes you can? now get up and finish the game!
Posted by: zelliam Yeah, the chief does show emotion, this has developed over the coarse of the books and the games, for example, it was him that decided not to give the report and johnson that contained the information about the flood being present in his dna. He also has a dark sense of humor, as in when he finds himself teleported by the gravemind into the midst of high charity where he sees the grunt and just calmly says "boo!" And when the chief parts from coratana on high charity he turns back to say "after im threw with truth ill...." as in come back for her, and she replies "dont make a girl a promise if ya know ya cant keep it" I think he's only just comming to terms with emotion and feeling more human, something that, prior to the covonant war and cortanas involvement he did not understand or know
These are very good points but I have to disagree with that last part. He had to have understood emotion before the Covenant War as he was a small child at the time. Also, I forgot to mention at the end of Halo, the last cutscene he keeps staring out the Long-sword window trying to find other marines. He keeps telling Cortana to search for any signs of life. He is sad (at the least) because he had to blow up the ring and none of the other marines get off (until he discovers Johnson and some others), something he thinks is his fault. Cortana senses this and says "There's nothing we could have done, a whole Covenant, the Flood, destroyed. Halo, it's over."

Master Chief was trained as a Spartan from the age of six, therefor is calm on the battlefield, why should he get excited in battle. And he does show emotion towards comrads, but especially towards Cortana. There are several spots in the books that depict this, and near the end of both Halo and Halo 2 (the games) it is shown. When she is getting attacked by Guilty Spark he immediatly takes action to protect her, and when he goes to High Charity in Halo 2 he tries to remove her from the Covenant Data Base but she says no. When she has to stay behind to ensure that the 2nd Halo isn't fired he does get a little sad. In the books whenever a fellow Spatan dies he always gets a little sad. Also when he travels with marines, and they get attacked, he feels sorry for, and feels that it is his fault when they die.
-
Of course Master Chief has feelings. He feels like killing stuff.
-
in halo 2 he shows emotion as well when cortona wants to be left behined. he hesitates showing he cares what happens to cortona.
