Becoming a 50 in Halo 3(for all of you that say it's easy)

Becoming a 50 in Halo 3 has been said to be too easy on these boards a lot lately. About a week or so ago I started getting curious to what percentage of the population has achieved General status. So I went to Halo 3 Leaderboard and started looking. When I first went and painfully scrolled through page after page there were 2800 Generals. At the time of this post there are 3300. I have noticed that about 100 people make General daily. That's not a solid number though. If you think that's a lot you need to think about how many people there are playing Halo 3. I don't know how many unique gamertags there are that have played Halo 3 and out of those some are multiple accounts owned by the same person. I'm going to guess there are some where around 5 million people playing Halo 3 on some kind of consistent level. It's not unusual to see 350,000 people online at any one time during peak hours, some times upwards of half a million. Again, this is a guess. There could be much, much more. For arguments sake let's say there are 1,000,000 players. That would mean .0033% of them are Generals. If 2% of them were Generals that would make 20,000. I chose 2% because the ranks go to 50 and not 100. I'm going to promise you there are a lot more than a million people playing Halo 3. I don't know what the percentage of the populations that are Generals are but I will be willing to guess it's less than .002%. This is why I think the TruSkill system is OVERALL doing it's job. I am by no means saying there aren't flaws in it. Obviously there are when a team can win 140 games in a row and not rank above a level 16. I am saying for the majority of us the system works fine. By the way, next time you play go to options in matchmaking where you can choose good connection, close skill, etc.. and notice that in team slayer the largest majority of players are around 20 or lower. The population of players that frequent Bungie are generally more knowledgable and dedicated Halo players. Therefor they are probably better than your average player. This is why that if you read an opinion here, which people try to make sound like facts, that it is not always true, correct, or what's best for the entire community. By the way, except for the Halo 3 Leaderboard, this is all my opinion. I have no hard numbers to back this up. [Edited on 12.03.2007 11:21 AM PST]

 • Becoming level 50 was not easy. The system is flawed. I had an insane win rate on my level 49 before I eventually hit 50. An upwards 60+ wins and under 10 losses in team slayer. In the meantime i had two friends play with me from level 1, (both level 50's, which i played with them for), and they BOTH hit 50 on their second accounts before I hit 50 on my main account. And as far as not leveling up at low levels? Its true. I've created multiple accounts that have perfect, or near perfect records for the first hundred games, and can not level pass 25. I find it hilarious. For example, it took 23 consecutive team slayer wins to level up from 11 to 12 -- haha. Not to mention each game was a steak dinner.... the flawed system is utterly hilarious...but when your as good as me it honestly doesn't matter For you that don't believe me my second gamertag is -- Y0U ODNT KN0W -- level 12 in TS but undefeated?? lol and a 3.32 K/D ratio, with probably the majority of those deaths being my team joking around killing me....lol
