Was arguing with a guy at work about how great Halo was, and realized something. If there was one singular thing that separated C.E. from its contemporaries (and a lot of games since), it was enemy psychology. No other game did so much to make you believe the enemies were real. Varying states of alarm/quiet...many games still don't seem to have that. Or even non-combat animations half the time.

Yep, SG, same as the boss's kid. I actually forbade him from playing CE Flood levels. (They gave me nightmares...) Was nice when he was old enough to go through the whole thing. I used to slaughter him in versus...I can still slap him down in CE & 2, but, anything newer... I just watch him on Live when he's visiting and appreciate what younger reflexes can do. 'He was once but the learner...' Is weird but cool to have someone to discuss Halo with in person.
