Posted by: Various people These maps should be free.
First of all, they will be free, as stated in the article. Second of all, all of you people who think 3d animation is easy, guess what. It isn't. That is why modelers, texture-ers, and various other people in the field are payed a good sum of money to do these things. Because they are difficult, and take much time and energy. I spend at least 7 straight hours a day modeling, of course taking a 10 minute break for food and such. But really, it is nowhere close to easy. You want to prove otherwise? I'd like to see you try. Course, this challenge only applies to non-3d modelers. Anyway, here is a link to the Personal Learning addition of Maya. In case you do not know what Maya is, it is a high-end modeling program, the commercial version costs about $8k. Plus, to get a nice high-poly model, you need an expensive computer, ram helps alot, typically 2 gigs and up. And this brings me back to my point. It is expensive to model, so it shouldn't be free when it is released. [Edited on 11.22.2007 1:15 AM PST]
