Posted by: Old Papa Rich
Posted by: UselessTrash Add to that, a GOOD skill system would take into account how YOU PERSONALLY performed in every game WHETHER IT WAS A WIN OR A LOSS. Such a skill system would seperate the good from bad much faster and take away much of those annoyancies we experience with this implementation of Trueskill.
Faster, maybe, more accurately, no. There is no hurry to assign players the proper skill level. It is not a race. The goal is to match players evenly, not provide players with some sort of linear accomplishment. By using wins as a measure, and combining that with the relative skill of your opponents, over the long term, you get a very accurate measure of ability.
You do? Do you have any idea of how easy it is to elevate a medium skilled player with a couple of good players on a team? That's how most highly ranked players got their rank. Either that, LW or neg exp boost. Compare this to play randoms in team lists (which makes it almost impossible for ANYONE to rank up high,,, no matter skill). How does this provide accuracy at all? There's nothing wrong with Trueskill as a system, but this implementation is total fubar dude.
