Months ago, media mens came to the Bungie headquarters to get some new scoops in the wake of the Halo 3 Public Beta. They saw some new maps, now you can see them, as well.
Posted by: Leb Souljah
Posted by: Sago I am pretty sure that the new armor will be unlocked as you beat the campaign story.
Hmmm.. I wouldn't be too sure about that. I think you might need to increase your skill level or rank in multiplayer to unlock the new armor.. kinda like the way they had it in Rainbow Six: Vegas.
I like this idea. So now you can have something to show for your skills besides your rank. BUT WHERES MY ELITES! [Edited on 07.03.2007 7:07 PM PDT]

Just me being a nerd. In warhammer 40'000 an autocannon is pretty much a 120mm tank gun. Autocannons are on the chopper. Autoguns in the 40K universe are more like what in on the brute chopper. Nerdy me :)

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

while i knew about most of this stuff already....ive never seen pics like this. like hbo said GAWJUS. this is the kind of update that makes me glad im a 'Lo fan. (Too bad we'll never get to use that combat knife) That knife if like hot manaquin.

Sweet post Bungie. But I wonder what he mean't by 'unlock' for the new armor. maybe some are unlockable to all and some are exclusive. maybe you get them for buying legendary, or playing 200 hours of MP, or getting all achievements, or maybe as the reward mentioned to the 1st 100 on the ARG log in site. Edit: Does anyone else see an elite reflected in the Central Spartan's visor? It kinda looks like one. [Edited on 07.03.2007 7:16 PM PDT]

well put it into english for us

Please read the article for the answer to your question.
Posted by: General Nelson So with these armor permutations, are the varying appearences simply cosmetic or actually affect the manner in which a Spartan plays.
Seriously, anybody who says Halo 3's graphics suck are complete idiots.
Posted by: computergeeq If you make it a CQB armor, does that increase ur melee power rather than someone who was regular spartan armor?
[Edited on 07.03.2007 6:39 PM PDT]

Nice screen shots. I really like the one of Zanz-er-Last resort. Also, I was wondering the same thing computergeeq.
-
alright guys...it was just stated in that update. the different armour variations are simply "cosmetic" !!! as in they don't directly affect gameplay in any form. [Edited on 07.03.2007 6:34 PM PDT]

Impressive. MOST impressive. The new maps look cool... I could be wrong, since I've never played on either of the maps, but Epitaph looks like it may end up sharing some similarities with Halo 2's Colossus (Long and narrow, multiple vertical levels, high ceilings, open areas as well as closed in spaces--like hallways and passages--that allow variety in encounters from long-range to close-quarters combat, definite Forerunner flavor... etc.). It may be something of a "spiritual successor," if you will... but that's all just speculation. As far as the new armor goes, I like both, but I think I'm gonna stick with the classic Mark VI. I'd feel strange fighting in anything else :)

So with these armor permutations, are the varying appearences simply cosmetic or actually affect the manner in which a Spartan plays. Hence, creating a class-based combat, with some Spartans that move faster, or have heavier armour, or any other kind of variation that distorts the the level playing field of prior Halo games. ((I am not passing judgment on this concept, simply inquiring for clarification))

All this isn't really news to me.. but nice high quality renders guys.
