I must ask if Bungie has released any information on how it intends to end the online Host Advantage in Halo 3 . There has to be a better way. The Host Advantage can sometimes make Halo 2's online play unfair and frustrating. This should not be allowed in Halo 3.

The only way for there to be no host is dedicated servers
Posted by: StUnNeR H2K
Posted by: Likwit I don't think it ever will unless everyone has T3.
Even with all T3 host advantage will still exist... Latency will always be present.
Real latency will always exist, but there is fake latency used to mimick the disadvantage off-host users have. I've only seen it in Half Life 2: Deathmatch, although I think they could institute it into Xbox 360 games if developers really wanted.
Posted by: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm It wont be fixed and its not unfair because its picked at random so it evens itself out overtime. You have host 1 out of 8 games if your playing a 4v4. so it will balance out. Its really not that big of a deal
That isn't true. How could you possibly think that's it correct? There are more things to take in to account than just 4v4...

But as games get more and more advanced it will be lessened more and more until it is unnoticable.
Actually its as the intrenet connections get more and more advanced will it be fixed not the games.
Actually it's both. :P
Well sorta, but mostly connection. No matter how optimised the online is the game will always lag if the connections are bad.

i'm not a technical expert in this field but I hope they can fix it.

The Host Advantage can sometimes make Halo 2's online play unfair and frustrating. This should not be allowed in Halo 3.
Host advantage is not intentional it happens because the game is being hosted by the hosts connection. Everybody else has to connect to the host to play the game but the host is at the game. So if im the host and im up in canada and every one else in the game is in the states they all have to connect to me. This means im going to have a good 2 second advantage on everybody else. There IS NO way this can be removed , even if they used online dedicated servers people closer to that dedicated servers location would have a slight advantage. Saying bungie could take out host advantage is like saying bungie could take out standbyeing.

Host advantage isnt a gameplay feature its your online connection, and theres not much they can do to fix it.
