Bungie Weekly Update
We have a nice, fat update today, with lots of Halo 2 and Halo 3 stuff for you, including some interesting new art.

i like what i see except for the D-pad being the new mic usage button, its going to be a bit of a challenge to talk on the run now. I would have gone with what gears of war did and just not make a button for that feature, that way you could utilize the seperate weapon reload buttons (and the rest of the controls) without taking you thumb off of any of them to talk. i can see me now in team snipers, ill stop running to say something like "hey over in this building" and then in the words of FPS Doug... BOOM HEADSHOT !!!! right to my domepiece. =( otherwise nice job [Edited on 04.28.2007 3:19 PM PDT]

in dont know if this was asked, but are there still going to be legacy and southpaw control styles? and what about Boxer? cause i've gotten pretty used to using that setting. nice update by the way.

it shouldnt be that big of a change for me and other gears of war players...it will just make the transition that much easiier, but i still think there should be an option to switch the X and RB.

Nice update frankie. I like the knew art. And of course u ruined it by adding to it at the end like you always do but its ok. I was just wondering....did you give the MC a beaver tail to his right by the gun. i honestly cant tell what it is and all i can describe it as is a beaver tail. One more thing. A while back didnt you guys say that you would release wallpapers and ringtones and stuff for cell phones. i was looking forward to that but it never happened... : (

For the talk option...how 'bout voice activated? To start the option to talk to whole team, just say "Team" or something else that the system recognizes as the command to message/talk to the whole team, and then you get a static "blip" in your ear that signifies that you are "connected" to the team and then the static "blip" from H2 that says that you are "disconnected." That would solve the "take-your-finger-off-something-important" problem. Obviously, it would have to be FLAWLESS to be implemented into the game, but it's an idea that would work to keep the game moving and still have communication without being a sitting duck for the .7 seconds it takes to hit some random button.

I am still having trouble downloading the maps, and now i think i know why, my downloader says that i have purchased the maps but i still don't see the purchase on my credit card. maybe that's the problem. I guess i'm gonna have to call XBL support and find out how to get them to actually be purchased so i can download them

[/quote] dude NO JOKE. we should not have to sacrifice mobility for functionality. give me a break; forcing us to use d-pad for chat? yeah RIGHT! i might as well stand still and give the other team a headshot. we shouldn't have to decide between moving and talking lol. i won't say this very often but please take a hint from gears and don't necessarily make us press a button to speak. hitting the d-pad is just un-acceptable IMO. it seems like its an un-necessary downgrade from halo 2, where you could easily access the white button (actually more easily with an xbox 360 controller) [Edited on 04.28.2007 11:19 AM PDT]

I'd love to see Halo 3 include this. Sure, many people would stick with the set up Bungie makes, but for those of us out there that think reaching for B to throw a grenade while on the hand-dandy boxer control settings is a bit annoying, we'd love to make it a different button of our choosing, or just totally revamp to our own play style!

so the X button is just useless when you dont have equip??? another note, the last leaked video i saw from the new zanzibar shows a guy picking up a "power drainer" where the invisibility usually spawns. uhh what>? haha, my guess is its like an EMP.

ahh, nice. thanks for the update guys. The RB/X switch does really make sense, especially the accidental-ejection thing lol. And being able to independantly reload dual weilded weapons is really cool. Keep up the good work guys.

I like everything, but the use of D Pad to talk I think has to change. The white button in Halo 2 was easy to access and even if u had to take your thumb off the right joy stick you can still move forward with the left joy stick. When using the D Pad you need to stop moving, even if it is for a quarter second you stop moving. It just seems like it would get in the way of the flow and talking is a priority in the game. You can reach over with your right thumb-its not a huge reach for me, it doesn't bother me horribly, but what about the younger smaller kids who had to completely pickup there hand to get to the D Pad. Why do we have to push the D-Pad to talk? Ugh. I really hope that Bungie will either re-map that button somewhere else on the controller that will let me run and aim at the same time (Like the LB button for H2 on the 360), Or let me switch it around under options in the game. Or just take it out all together. They can keep the proximity voice for all I care, I just want to be able to talk to my entire team without pushing a button that will leave me vulnerable.

I doubt we will be able to call in air support, but the other things are feasable. And we know the bubble shield and tripmine are in the game, so why not be able to deploy a turret, Sgt. Jonhson does this in the first level of Halo 2.

Does anyone know where all the different pics are? Like vertical or horizontal pics and backgrounds for "Emotion?" They are not up in the wallpaper section yet....
