Bungie Weekly Update
Most of the [i]cool [/i]info was revealed on Tuesday in the Multiplayer Vidoc, but here's some stuff on matchmaking and more.

pity about BTB, sounds like there's gonna be alot on this topic in the forums.... i liked the BTB objective games personally, It's only good when you invite friends and use teamwork, its so funny wining game after game because the other team just does their own thing... anyway Am I the only person excited about the new anti-cheat measures?!? I might even jump in later... Personally I'd scrap Rumble training to increase the density but PLEASE keep 8v8.... I don't see why changing it to 6v6 will make a difference, that's what most of the games turn out to be anyway... 6v6 then as usual 3v3 after 5mins as half them drop out.... fun... I don't care about rank personally, most cheat, and will even after this update... Can't believe it, the only thing that kept halo2 fun for me, was 16 player carnage... Will have to be reduced to LAN's like the days before I found Live... FRANKIE? Any chance of expanding on whether these lists are set in stone? Surely you have an opinion on the 8v8s? and for your information, you didnt remove rumble training, becuz u have made rumble pit into unranked training so its the same thing of what your trying to remove, it doesnt make sense

OH MY GOD, What do you guys think you are doing!!!! What did you do!??? Why do you make BTB unranked!! and you are reducing it to 6 players!!! WTF, I dont mind the waiting time, and i think once the new maps are out, halo 2 will become more popular, you dont need to start messing with the playlist!! You should have just made a Big Team Battle Slayer/Skirmish on big maps Ranked, and a BTB training A lot of BTB Fans are gonna be pissed!!!! the only place for big maps and most strategy. now the only ranked list are 4v4 and double team and whats with the removal of ranked rumble pit!!!! GOSHHHHHH the only place to show your true individual skills. PLEASE JUST CHANGE YOUR MIND AND KEEP BTB RANKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ranked is always better than unranked remember that

what i mised was that before the tripmine show off you see the warthog from the drivers view wich was in 1st person, i hope the driving in halo 3 isn't in 1st person because 1st person driving sucks. and a guy said you could see the "chaingun" after a explosion in the hands of a blue spartan, but after wich explosion is it?? ( there like tons of explosions in the vidoc)

Another one for the complaint box, Bungie: I have no problem with your natural selection of gametypes, or your application of new maps to playlists. What I do have a problem with is the fact that playlists keep shrinking farther and farther to supplement a drop in numbers that I'm not seeing. Okay, so we can see the drop in online players, but I don't agree with the idea that it makes matching up too long to wait for. Giving us fewer and fewer playlists is not accomplishing much. It is a wise decision to merge BTB Skirm and Slayer- however I believe it's a bit beyond retarted to drop the number of players to six per team. I'm playing on a low-end, low- output DSL connection and 1: only one in three games are below acceptably laggy (usually that's 'cause the host doesn't use their network appropriately.) and 2: reducing the number of players for BTB gives larger parties even less options, causing those big parties of old friends to go from "let's play BTB," to "I'm tired of customs, and there's no room for me in BTB- Later guys." The balance of players online in my friends list had been met back when there were two or three parties doin' their BTB thing, and two or three parties chilling out just having fun in Team Carnage. The SMART thing to do would have been to merge Carnage and Actionsack into a recreational 5 player 'list. Instead, you just keeping forcing yourselves into this lack of online players you're referring to. At that point in time, there were a few weeks where the number of players hit rock-bottom, and we were still getting matches within two minutes. On the last few notes here, there's certainly a decrease in bridging since the update- but it still is possible, and is still being done. To me, that means that people will still be doing it with their infinte supply of "Three month sprees," and the boosters will still be doing their thing. I just hope I'm wrong on this one, but I know I'm not wrong that we've been bridged in matchmaking even after the update. I'm holding my finger not to blurt
but there's no lie being told here. On this note, my last complaint is the same old complaint. The effort to fight cheaters has raged on with slow progress for two years now. Ranks have been reset, updates have been made, and people both from Microsoft and the Halo Nation have stepped up to stomp down these idiots. The number of people sick of it has always been at "critical mass." Now, we've been through updates several times with hope for a magic solution- we know that's not possible. On the other hand, the fact that any one person can be a level fifty by essentially stealing online points from another player proves that there's no reason for the level to exist anymore. Particularly when I'm paying $50 a year to acquire those points, and dipstick McGee is paying nothing to make sure I stop earning them after level thirty. For the last time, a level reset is a mistake- and with Halo3 coming around, it's not like too many people will give up playing Halo3 to go back and level up their Team Snipers rank. Seriously. I really think this one was a swing and a miss- although I always give you the benefit of the doubt. May the success of the maps outweigh the smaller issues. Hopefully things will go very well regardless of my petty jibber-jabber. Here's hoping for that, and more. -

I hate to be a complainer because I love Bungie and Halo 2 and all, but I'm really kind of stunned that there will be no more ranked big team of any kind. I've been dissapointed in play list changes before but I always understood that they were necessary, but if they do this it will truly make me lose interest in this game. Big Team is my favorite thing about Halo, it's kind of what sets it apart from other games (well, one of the things), but there is no sense of competition or teamwork whatsoever in unranked games. And it will be even harder to get a decent game now that they're re-combining BTB Slayer and BTB skirmish, because half the people in every unranked game are just going to quit out immediately when they don't get the game type they want. Please, Please reconsider this one Bungie!!! Instead of killing Big Team why not reinvigorate it with some different game types? I still usually get fast matches made in both BTB game types ---- I just don't understand this one at all. [Edited on 04.14.2007 1:23 AM PDT]

Phew, I'm glad BTB didn't get the new maps - a pity it's getting unranked though. Frankie said that two of the equipment items are trip mine and bubble shield, but the third has to be that grav lift right? [Edited on 04.14.2007 1:01 AM PDT]

I can NOT belive that HALO 2 will go WITHOUT BTB skirmish(ranked) its the only real reason to play online with frends. Id think it was the very reason I got XBOX LIVE. Well all I have to say is that HALO BTB is a stapel to the game and every one I play with will FEEL the LOSE of the game type. I hope you can put it back after the HALO 3 BETA is DONE.

WTF your getting rid of BTB SKIRMISH? its harder to get a match in hard core then btb. so all we have now is a unranked btb. wtf, don't you think with the new maps more people will be playing it? I do... I know for a fact that there will be more. thats all anyone on my friends list is talking about. but you go do what you think is the smart move and everone will just keep playing rainbow six, or gears of war. stop killing are playlist oh yeah put swat back as ranked. I like the anti-cheating and all, but there are definitely some downsides here. What in the world happened with Big Team Slayer? That is basically all I play and now its gone just like that. I mean its bad enough taking it away, but you lower the max players too? That's cruel. I guess I won't hate too much you as long as you ban all those stupid cheaters out there. I can't wait for Halo 3! I really need to get a 360 before this fall.

i dont like the stats reset i just got my 38 in ts and 30 in dt & hc so it sucks for me and all of my friends who worked hared and have to do it again plus i got cheated twice today and with every1 back to a 1 were gunna get cheated nonstop please bungie get ur own server think of all the legit people who will love you
