Even if you become a General in one playlist, that`s right a General (which is only an EXP measurement, sort of COD4-style), not a 50, it will still not make you an overall General unless you get a SKILL level of 50 in that playlist. Your RANKS, (once again I`m not talking about SKILL level) in certain playlists have nothing to do with your actual, overall rank, so don`t worry about that. This new system just basically shows what playlists you have more EXP in, and how much of that EXP you have in the respective playlists. That`s it.
