Posted by: menono58 zebras cant be tamed, many have tried and failed their not tempered properly, to answer your queston: no they cannot
That's not true, Zebras are easily broken, and can be ridden. They are often very strong willed, though, and do not make very suitable mounts in most cases. Usually, they are crossed with donkeys or other breeds of horse for docility. Check the wikipedia article. And, yes, Zebras are a species of Horse.

Well, they couldn't enter a Zumbug into a Horstachio contest. Same difference, really. >> Kritz

ummm one, it depends on the race, and the state you race in. (Each state has different rules, also the races put breed stamps on certian ones.) Say you try the kentucky derby. NO, you cannot race a zebra, there are strick breed rules, as well as you must have a full stud line to prove the authisty that the horse can keep up. The Kentucky Open however, is infact OPEN to any breed of animal with four legs... (haven't seen many dogs run it, but hey...maybe.) like I said, certain states provide certain rules. And depending on the importance of the race, breed stamps can be inforced. I would say for small races yes a zebra could run. But for important races, events, and so on. I would imagine not, but sometimes breed stamps are not inforced.

I dont know if they can enter horse races, but i know there isnt a rule against them entering bowling tourney's *nudge nudge* *wink wink*
-
No, Zebras cannot enter horse races since they are not technically horses
-
*whispers to everyone else* is he ok?

Minky sounds right...

Isn't most horse racing by breed of horse? Specifically thoroughbred horses? This would likely preclude Zebras, which are not thoroughbred horses. They are Zebras. Edit: The Kentuky Derby, for example, is for three year old thoroughbred horses specifically. [Edited on 3/15/2007]
