I have a friend who sent me this coupon for a free 1 year subscription of Xbox Live. Before I go to the store and look like an idiot, does anyone else know if the coupon is legit?

In some places using a fake coupon is akin to shoplifting. Be warned.
Lol, I don't see how it it. In the eyes of the retailer, its not a counterfeit. its just not valid. Nothing would happen if they tried to scan it. Its not like you could actually trick them into giving you the product if the coupon didn't work.
Uh it is. It is counterfeits and illegal, if you want me to, I can ask my dad who worked in the DoJ for like 10 years and was also a top attorney in terms of fraud cases
Lol so serious. Good luck proving they knew it was fake.
Yeah, As I said before, if you tried to use it they wouldn't call the police and have you prosecuted. At most they would try to scan it and then tell you that it wasn't valid. All you would have to do to avoid legal trouble is tell them that you thought it was real. trying to use counterfeit money is not a crime, as long as you never knew that it was fake. You just lose the money. ( This has actually happened to me ) I tried to use a 10$ bill at the mall once. And I was told that it was counterfeit. A detective came and asked me a few questions, Where I got the money, if I knew it wasn't legit. etc. And then I went home. tl;dr knowingly trying to pass a counterfeit bill/coupon is illegal. But not if you don't know that its not legit. [Edited on 11.25.2012 9:15 AM PST]
