Have you? Preferably without meaning to. Preferably awkwardly.
Last year I was working at a Cold Stone Creamery over the summer when these two tall, hip looking dudes walked in and got in line. The first I didn't recognize, but the second, with the lethargy on his face, with his Bright Eyes hair, with his sharp features, I recognized immediately. I had seen it on his blog years ago--probably back around '05 or '06. It was unmistakable. And I knew he lived in the same town where I attended college, at least at one point in his life.
I knew there was only one way to make sure, so I timed my pacing with the customers so that I would be the one to ring up him and his friend. First his friend--whoever he was--and then him. He handed me a credit card. Perfecto. I swiped it, and while I waited for it to go through, I took one sly look at the name. I prefer not to say his whole name, but the first name starts with an "M" and his surname starts with an "S". It was his name.
I handed him back his card. I gave him his receipt. He said, "Thank you," and left.
The creepy thing is, Yoozel probably never had a clue that, for the five minutes that he was in line, I was analyzing his face, his demeanor, his movements, and his credit card for information that would without a doubt confirm to me that he was who I thought he was.
I haven't seen him since.
Posted by: Sliding Ghost inb4 skepticism There was a similar post on Waypoint where a guy said he met Frankie at an airport or something. Everyone fell for it until the man himself made an appearance. But that's Waypoint. This is B.net and I believe you op.
You better, because we literally live in the exact same town as each other, Yoozel and I. Unless he has moved. I keep my eye out for him. And after attending college here (WVU), I do understand why he earned the titled "Drunken Moderator".
