Controller vs Mouse/Keyboard in Halo2 Vista
After playing halo pc and halo2 xbox since their release I think I can give a fairly good comparison on the two. If the controller has as much auto aim as in the xbox version then god help all us mouse users... I can pretty much 4/5 shot a person nearly every time with this auto aim as it’s that efficient. Sure the mouse is good but with this amount of auto aim the controller can defiantly rival the mouse with ease, which is a bit worrying... I would like to use the controller with this aim again on the pc... but we will see ;)
what you guys think anyway?

I never look down at the keyboard and try to find the space bar so I can jump.

I use the left side of a gamepad (for the analog movement) Only button i have to reach for is exchange weapon.

I've always been using my default, laser, click wheel-enabled white mousy with great success. IMO controllers are superior in that they have every button and function abailable at all times. However, slow turning and a complete disregaurd of three other fingers per hand is where they fall short. I was a die-hard gamepad man until i started WASD and mouse and it cant be beat.

If they make it so controllers can work with auto-aim on the PC, it will also work with keyboard and mouse. Of course, if they do that it'll be like everybody running around with an aim-bot. That'll be sad. They could always increase the number of shots for a kill– 5 sniper rounds to the head for a kill!

in game demo recording is simply a must if Bungie/ Hired Gun are serious about trying to stop cheating/ hacking in halo2 vista

I think your all forgetting about how strong/ accurate the auto aim is in halo2 xbox with the controller.. thats why I think it could rival the mouse

I used my 360 controller for Halo PC for a while and it was terrible, too freaking sensitive. I touched the left one just barelly and my guy started strafing all over the place. Keyboards and Mice = win.

There is no device in the world that is better than the mouse for pointing and clicking. Fingerpads suck, styluses blow, and analog sticks are craptastic. Halo as with any other FPS is basically point and click to kill the enemy. And the mouse is easiest and most accurate tool to do that.

Even the [url=http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/]mice that come with Macs[/url] have left and right click. By the way, I think computers are tools– Mac, PC, doesn't matter as long as the job gets done. It's just that your gripe is a bit out of date.

Despite Halo 2's extreme amount of game-crippling Godly auto-aim with a controller, I'm still confident that I could hold my own with a mouse and keyboard anyday against somebody with a controller, whether he/she had auto-aim or not, if it came to it. I hope that it never comes to it though. I don't want auto-aim, damn it! Mouse and keyboard > controller.

Whoo Mx518 here also. But the Mx series and the G5/G7 are already pretty old/outdated and most definitely no longer the best.

If the auto aim is as heavy as the xbox version I might just use the controller. It might even be heavier to compeat with the Mouse + Keyboard. [Edited on 12/17/2006]

You should try the Fatal1ty 1010. It's very cheap, but absolutely better than its prize :) Especially in fast-paced actiongames like we do play. I think the controller is a damn good device for machinima and partystyle gaming, but I like more the keyboard + mouse combination in "real" matches. Of course the nice modderguys may create a "u nubs cant play with those danm controllerz"system for some servers. But I have nothing to say about the autoaim, havent tryed yet.
