Bungie Weekly Update!

Hey I actually talk about the game in this one. In as much detail as I can get away with without being fired. Zomg! That is to say more detail than usual, but less than you want. Read it, absorb it like 2-ply bathroom tissue and enjoy it. Lots of new stuff coming up soon. You're going to like it.

 • Nice to see a suggestive update though as most of us have already at least checked out the swedish info (through legal means I assume and if not shame on you) this is somewhat not interesting. Though the way you speak of the scary event in the halo story and the way it is replicated for another to see either is a prescripted event of characters in the normal gameplay or a cutscene occasion in either case I look forward to experiencing the same kind of terror you describe.

 • A very nice update, Frankie! The atmospherics in the game really seem to be coming along nicely.

 • All below IMHO: I really liked this update for one obvious reason as Pezza has mentioned, less of the *censored*'s. Its a little too frustrating to read when it goes so far to say so little. Also, this has been by far the most read-worthy update since the announcement of Halo 3 itself. I find it more along the lines of someone actually getting to talk about something they deeply enjoy in a context that one gets to fully appreciate. To me it seemed that many other updates were just made to be placeholder, understandibly perhaps. As just another corporate hatin' American, I can't help but feel disappointed to have to hear about my favorite game in a way I can truly appreciate until after so many juicy details have surfaced that Bungie could tell us simultaneously as the magazine's come out, but that's the way it goes. Buy the mags and then they'll talk about it. I am slightly perplexed that it is not possible to publish the photos here on Bnet preemptivly to help cut back on all of the copyright violations that are occuring/will occur to various syndications. Pics are one thing, but the insightful words that accompany those are what make it stand out. For the most part, it says a lot for Frankie's writing abilities in the way he is able to describe the game and it feels almost as if he is sitting right there telling you about it, whereas before it seemed more like a press release full of things we can't know. Yet. Its the kind of thing that doesn't leave so many open spaces that you are literally screaming for more in a frantic sort of way. This is the kind of update that is actually digestible. It seems to really hold you over in interest instead of desire. I can only hope that more updates will be along these lines as this is a fresh loaf into a bread box full of stale crumbs eagerly devoured by ever vigilant mice. I hope this all does not come off as too harsh, as it is not meant to be, but rather my own opinionated review of an awesomely deserving Weekly Update. They made a good decision in picking Frankie for his job. Sometimes, it has to be hard for those that are with video games day in and day out to get to truly understand and realize the perception of a true fan when you are no longer on the sidelines and have become one of the players. He seems to be able to look through the 'binoculars' from the playing field set at a fan's distance quite well. A few others: We are still eagerly waiting on the next podcast. Eagerly. What? No info or statement about that infamous press release supposedly announced by Wingnut? Not even an acknowledgment? Hmm. Anyone who posts 1st/2nd/532nd post-type things be whipped with the famed wet noodle. Literally for once. Honestly the first posts are always the least worth reading and they should be banned for SPAM. Please stop pilfering trivial info tidbits from the Weekly Updates. Its really quite boring. Big things are whats worth talking about this place in time when so little has been revealed.

 • Something so amazingly scary...the final destruction of Earth? With the events of GoOnyx, that seems increasingly feasible, and would sure as hell make me yelp or scream.

 • This is a terrible update. I want to kill myself, I'm sure in heaven I can get a copy of Halo 3. It's making me anticipate it so much. I sure hope the High Definition in this game will be amazing, since I just spent a lot of money on a HDTV.

 • Lol, I found the Mister Chief. You can't hide from me Mister Chief, I know you right down to the cheese you may or may not eat. But not really. Darnit, I really wish I knew exactly what date the magazine is coming out, because right now this post is all that is keeping me from running out and finding it. Pretty sweet update. That map looks like a BR, just my opinion...

 • Wow! Frankie, this is one of the best reviews I've read from you in a while. I'm glad that you actually gave us some intersting information in this one. Sheesh, it's about time! Just joking. But anyways, nice job. But can you answer just one more question? In Halo 3 are we going to be able to create our own maps (not just game types)? If were not able to, can you please add the feature? The Xbox 360 has alot of memory on the hard drive (20GB). It probably would be able to fit some multiplayer maps. I think it's a great idea. Can you please post a response to my questions and opinions? I'm wondering how you would respond, .......alot.

It’s possible to achieve anything from a dry and dusty plain t a close, humid forest in terms of visible atmospherics. We won’t hit you over the head with it, but it’ll be there!
Forest eh... guys it's time for Jungle warfare, lol.
That sir, will be -blaming- sweet!!!
That is so true.

 • Awesome update mate. First off, I don't know if EGM comes to Australia so i may need to do a newsagent search to find it, or get them to order it in - but that could be pretty expensive. Maybe i should just wait for B.Net screenies and info? I dont want to look at dodgy scans that pop up in the darkside of the interwebz. Second, the first thing i thought of when i heard the scary moment was that one of the main characters have died (hence the really bad thing happening). this could be anything from MC or Aribier dying, or cortana going against us and working with gavemind. after this bad moment the scary thing is that the halos are set of and hence the crazy lighting effects. i can wait to yelp in shock! also in regard to the 'brave grunts' working with 'angry brutes' there could have been any kind of amazing faction twists (they promise more twists from what i have heard). i mean, who expected that a Sgt Johnson would ever be working with the covies in the end of halo 2. and that there would be a civil war! EDIT: from Pezza post it appears that EGM does come to Australia so that will be awesome, and AOXM has info!? I think I can spare a few dollars for these. [Edited on 11/3/2006]

 • Excellent update, so welcomed when I remember the "Wow, I saw the *censor* in action the other day, I was *censor*ing with a new *censor* which will totally *censor* your brain." updates. I'm looking forward to the EGM and AOXM when they release over here, I love it when things start moving. Keep up the great work. By the way, don't put "1st/2nd/nth post!" when you reply to the news stories. If you have nothing to contribute, then don't post.

 • um......has anyone else picked up on the blatantly obvious fact that Frankie said the AR now shoots grenades? for those of you who are lazy:
Interestingly, I will often choose the Assault Rifle over the Battle Rifle in a mid-sized map with any kind of indoor locations – which is hardly surprising, but what is surprising is that I will use it in open areas too – pulsing my trigger finger to keep it accurate, and hammering an opponent in the process. The grenade accuracy and predictability also helps.
Kay™

 • Real great update Frankie. So much H3 goodness. P.S. As a veteran of 'ye old 2600, I seriously doubt that the water in Halo 3 comes anywhere near the shimmering sparkliness that is water in Pitfall 2. pfftt.

 • Let's just say my excitement has smashed through the roof reading this update. It reminds me of when Frankie started doing his updates before Halo 2 was released and he just got hired. Oh and Frankie, I remember you from the good ole days of Daily Radar! It is a grand time in the Age of Bungie World Domination. [Edited on 11/3/2006]

OK, I'll admit it, I did cry. I am also very excited about the very in depth CUSTOMIZATION!!!!!! [Edited on 11/3/2006]
