Halo 4 Mantis inspiration from District 9?

Now, for those who don't know, the director of District 9, Neil Blomkamp, was supposed to make a Halo film, but the project collapsed and he ended up making his own original film.
Does anyone think the Mantis is some sort of homage of the Mech in District 9, to honor the director who wanted to make a Halo film so badly?
The fact that it's called a "Mantis" helps give evidence it's a homage for District 9, as the aliens in that film look somewhat like a [url=http://monstrosity.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/prawn-district9.jpg]humanoid praying mantis.[/url]

You could say it is a plagiarism but most forms of mechs look the same, hence them being named the same thing, mechs.

Nah, i doubt there's any correlation. Similar looking bipedal mechs have been a part of sci-fi for years. The ones in a recent MG game looked a lot more like the Mantis if i remember them correctly. And there's really no resemblance between the aliens in D9 and a praying mantis, they were designed to look like Prawns and, to me, that's what they look like. Humanoid Prawns.

Ok guys, another theory. Serious stuff. District 9 must have drawn influence from Armored Core. More to the root though, I believe that both Halo AND District 9 have each been referencing Ratchet and Clank! That movie was terrible, but your scenario could be possible. The Mantis looks a lot less deadly than the 9 Mech.
