For those of us who haven't read the Forerunner Trilogy, it is revealed that there are 2 Didacts: The Ur-Didact (Original), and the Didact (A Clone)
Anyway, which Didact is in Halo 4?
Also, the Terminals in Halo 3 imply that Didact was the one who activated the rings. But if one was imprisonment, then which one activated the rings?
Don't say the Librarian activated them, because she was supposed to be trapped on Earth.

This is clearly shown in the Terminals. Bornstellar-Didact fired the rings after the Librarian locked the Ur in the Requiem cryptum.
If they're technically the same person, then wouldn't the Bornstellar-Didact have rebelled against the Librarian as well?
They are not the same though. Bornstellar has the Didact's imprint but he is still his own individual living a separate life with different experiences.
Right, right. It's been a while since I read Cryptum. But Primoridal was the best book, by far.

The description for Silentium clears it up by saying the Ur-Didact was sent to a Flood infested system, which fits the Master Builder's explanation on what he'd do with him, "he'll be sent where he's most needed."
Posted by: Egerspurge
Posted by: MadGiggy there are 2 Didacts
I'm done trying to understand the story.
I think it gives everyone a headache... Not even Metal Gear's story was this complex.
Posted by: Dragonzzilla We presume its the Ur-Didact.
I thought he had been executed, but it turns out he was sent to a Flood-infested place and escaped. So it probably is the Ur-Didact.
