Teenagers kick 2nd referee to death after foorball/soccer game.

BBC Source
Dutch linesman bludgeoned to death A Dutch man has died after being kicked and punched by a group of teenage football players for whom he acted as linesman in a Sunday league match. Richard Nieuwenhuizen, 41, collapsed and was taken to hospital hours after he was beaten by three players from Amsterdam club Nieuw Sloten. He died on Monday. He had been officiating for Buitenboys club, in the town of Almere, and one of his own sons had been playing. Three teenagers, aged between 15 and 16, have reportedly been arrested. Buitenboys club chairman Marcel Oost said Mr Nieuwenhuizen, 41, officiated as linesman for the team every week. "He enjoyed doing it. He was a real football man; he was always here," he told national broadcaster NOS. News of his death sparked shock in sporting circles around the Netherlands. The Dutch minister for sports, Edith Schippers, said: "It is absolutely terrible that something like this can happen on a Dutch sports field". Anton Binnenmars, of the Royal Netherlands Football Association, described it as "too crazy for words that somebody involved in a sporting hobby becomes a victim of this kind of aggression". Nieuw Sloten said it was "deeply shocked" by what had happened, and intended to ban for life the players found to be responsible, had pulled their team from the league and temporarily suspended all its operations as a club. "Violence should not be on the football fields," it said.
The Netherlands, Almere. After a football game between Amsterdam B1 and Almere B1, the 2nd referee, who was volunteering to flag the game, was kicked to death by the guest's 15/16 year old players. It was a friendly match, there was already a little tension, because the he was the father of a player in the Almere's team. the score was 2-2, and the last goal by Amsterdam B1 was not accepted because it was an offside. After the final whistle, 5 players of the opposing team head towards the 2nd referee, pull him to the ground, and kick him multiple times. He manages to get away, but they catch op to him and continue kicking him. When they are finished, the man crawls to the cafetaria, where he manages to tell the people what happened, but he faints and dies on his way/in the hospital. The boys who kiled him are in court now, but they wont get the maximum punishment as it is not clear who had the killing kick. • Sometimes referee's/umpires can make players and spectators extremely disgruntled. I am not surprised by this result, i'm sure it has happened before.

 • How did nobody see, or assist the referee while he was being beaten?

 • Kinda find it ironic how football fans always start fighting or killing eachother while rugby fans almost never do those things :p

But this still doesn't change anything, most fans are peaceful and calling them all just a bunch of drunken hooligans is -blam!- stupid.
Yeah some are nice. Doesn't change the fact you have more than enough hooligans running about. I've seen so much crap come out of football in my life time that the article the OP linked is nothing short of typical. Hell even in my Primary school people were getting the crap beat out of them for supporting the wrong team. And no I did not make that last bit up.
People get hurt for wearing the wrong colors in a certain neighborhood, or supporting the wrong (American) football team, or for having the wrong political beliefs. In short, being different can get you killed pretty much anywhere.

I knew people who got beaten up in primary school because they supported Feyenoord instead of Ajax... But this case is not typical, this (luckily) almost never happenes

So you're saying that even though 99% of football fans have never done anything violent, they all deserve to be burned alive? No wait, my mistake, you said majority not all of them. Doesn't really change anything though.
Okay not burned alive I have met 1 or 2 nice foodball fans in my lifetime. Regardless when you see an entire stadium of people getting drunk, starting punchups, burning flags and whatever else its rather hard to think its not the majority.
Where exactly have you seen full stadiums getting drunk and acting violently? Nowhere, it's just your stupid sterotype. Vast majority of football fans are not violent.
