We've waited ten years...for this?

That is an awesome customer service benefit

lucky bastards

My parents got my brothers and I the Xbox when it first came out, but no one bothered to get Xbox Live until we got a 360 years later. :(
-
Ha, guess I shouldn't have dropped my tag from original Xbox when I made the jump to 360. Oh well, my white box is still tickin so I guess I don't need a new one.
Posted by: x Foman123 x Bummer. I just hit the 8-year mark; I'm probably out of the running for this.
You work for M$, you are probably playing xbox 720 with halo 5 and windows 8 right now.

Until I read this thread, I thought they were sending it to war veterans to celebrate Vetaran's day. Even after reading the article. There goes the sliver of respect I gained for them. This doesn't quite do it.
-
I had it since its inception however Ive changed gamertags and such during my lifetime. I think I had the gamertag shibbierz or something like that because I thought the movie Dude Where's My Car was hilarious. I was 13 at the time

About a month away for me to hit 10 years.
-
Finally, a custom console that doesn't look like utter rubbish.
-
If only I had an Ethernet jack near my TV when I originally got the original Xbox...
-
Man, if I would've been using my first account, it would be coming up on 10 years around January.
Posted by: Chickeng0d
Posted by: spartain ken 15 Well lets do the math on this: 10 x $60 = $600 + $300 - $400 for the xbox comes to = $900 - $1,000+ M$ is not really losing much
Still, why eat your own profits? Still good on 'em.
Because things like this earn them kudos and rewards people for long-term brand loyalty--it's a small price to pay in exchange for giving people a tangible reason to remain long-term customers.

-blam!-!. My account from '02 got hacked... >:(
Posted by: Super PolarBear I don't know of anyone that has a 10 year membership. My account will be 8 years old at Christmas... Do you think they'd send me one once it's ten or is it just for people whose accounts are close to that age right now?
-
Posted by: spartain ken 15 M$ is not really losing much
Microsoft is worth billions. They could send every Live user a free 360 and probably not lose much.
Posted by: thechosem 1 Seems fake... You should probably try Xbox.com to check it out.
That site gave me viruses. You should try xbox.com.

Gotta admit, that is pretty awesome.

I guess it's nice of Microsoft to do this, but it's not like most of these veterans need or want a new Xbox 360. In my opinion, MS points or online exclusives such as gamerpics would've probably been better.
-
Woah! Thats pretty cool!
Posted by: FatherlyNick Hmm, interresting if this was actually true, but I think that Microsoft would make a bigger announcment about it.
They're trying to surprise people. [Edited on 11.13.2012 3:17 PM PST]
