What do you think, Flood? The opinions seem to be greatly divided so far. Most people either absolutely love the game or have expressed similar complaints as some of what is listed in the review.

Posted by: ShadowHalo94 That's the thing: this game is much more team oriented than previous games.
full retard
Durr, I made a reference to a -blam!- movie, but can't elaborate I'm so funny LOL XD

Team shooting the mantis
You mean because that's what happens when an enemy is in a vehicle? When is someone in a Ghost, tank, warthog, or Wraith not teamed up on?
Doesn't detract from the fact that team play and strategy is needed. What were you getting at with this?

Spawns were dynamic in Halo 3, as well. Remember Narrows?
You mean spawning on either end of the map (above or below) and then the middle, maybe? Yeah, very dynamic. And in MLG it's one end at all times. (Meh, don't quote me on this, it's been a while since i've played Halo 3).
Hey, want to know something? 343 will be making weekly updates to MM, meaning new playlists (e.g. MLG and playlists that players want). Infinity Slayer might not be your cup of tea, but there will be old fashioned playlists down the road. Furthermore, Infinity Slayer is pretty fun. Sorry for not wanted to be spawn trapped all the time. Because it's not like I go into the playlist by myself or anything. Or that I get an incompetent random team. The MLG playlist will have static spawns.

Map control is still very possible in Halo 4.
Not with instant spawns and ordnance drops.
You're right, because I totally haven't played games where my team/the other team was being dominated due to map control.

It's clear to me that this guy must be pretty bad at the game or hasn't played with a strategic, cooperating team.
It's clear to me "you must be pretty bat at the game or hasn't played with a strategic, cooperating team." lol
roflmao I'm so clever. Yeah, I must be pretty bad at this game. You can tell by my constant complaining. Next time, come with an intellectual argument.
- Don't analyze my opener (full retard) as an argument. Openers are followed by arguments, hence all the crap below that phrase. - What am I getting at with this? Your example provides close to zero sense of the level of team work experienced in Halo 4. That's like saying you need to protect your teammate who's holding the flag in CTF. Yeah, obviously. - I hope the Halo 4 dev team does indeed come with good playlists that support the actual Halo formula that gave the series its success. - You're lying. There can't be map control. You were probably just overwhelmed because you and your teammates suck. Drop something like a SAW or Railgun in your face and waltz around the map and get pounded. Random spawns, instant spawns, and chaotic distribution of weaponry. Yeah, that works. - Next time, know your game.
Halo 4 Multiplayey Exposed- segment written by Tom T
Stopped reading there.
Posted by: nightspark
Posted by: ShadowHalo94 The whole section about the campaign is invalid. She clearly doesn't understand the Halo lore, probably never even reading the necessary books. Even then, all you need to do to understand the story better is to view the terminals which, apparently, she didn't do. The campaign, IMO, is the best of the Halo series so far. Saying that it was poorly articulated throws off her credibility. And complaining about the sound effects? The sound effects are magnificent in Halo 4. Everything else complained about are personal gripes. I personally had no problem with the AI nor the "lack of strategic play" (I played co-op with my roommate on Heroic and there were many times where we had to plan out our attack). Who hired her? I disagree completely with the multiplayer review. Halo 4's multiplayer is extremely fun and rewarding. The reviewer blows ordnance drops way out of proportion. Never have I encountered a severe problem with power weapons. Who ever had a power weapon was usually taken out quickly by the opposing team. That's the thing: this game is much more team oriented than previous games. Team shooting the mantis, team shooting the guy with the power weapons, etc. Spawns were dynamic in Halo 3, as well. Remember Narrows? Map control is still very possible in Halo 4. It's clear to me that this guy must be pretty bad at the game or hasn't played with a strategic, cooperating team.
If you need your consumers to read books to find out what's going on, you fail as a dev. I never felt I had to read the books to know what was going on in CE, 2, or 3. Reach broke that aspect, which is why the campaign sucked.
The books came after the games. Hence, why you probably didn't read any of them until after Halo 3 (this is the case for me, at least). As I mentioned, the terminals do a great job at summing up the books leading to Halo 4. I admit that 343 catered more to the lore fanatics in their campaign than to the casuals. I guess that's why I loved the campaign, though.

I completely disagree with almost every point there, as i'm sure most other people do.
Posted by: The EAKLE The review was blatantly cynic about the game. Many of the points were completely true, but exaggerated to make it seem like game breaking issues. It also basically says 'If you're having fun in this game, you're wrong and you need to wake up and stop enjoying it.'
Actually the first thing I wrote down, before I began writing my segment, was 'Halo 4 is fun, but it is not a good game'. My focus throughout writing was attempting to justify that seemingly contradictory statement.
Also talks about Ordinance drops as if they were constantly in your face, when in reality there's more than a few playlists without it. Notice how the multiplayer review barely talks about the playlists at all, other than mentioning Regicide.
This is a valid criticism of the review. I was tempted to note that Team Slayer Pro plays better, with the removal of weapon drops. However, the lack of any other efforts to make the game more of a competitive 'pro' experience is disappointing. Spawning should not be instant, or dynamic. There should also be more weapons on the map. That 343 left all of these glaring flaws unchanged in a supposedly competitive list suggests minimal effort was made in making a substantial alternative to default. The Objective gametypes also suffer similarly; Oddball and KoTH for example are intolerable with instant spawning. Many other popular gametypes are also missing, like One Flag, Juggernaut and Assault.
Claims the game has no strategy involved, then goes on to say how a person can call in an overshield in order to get a triple kill in the base. Isn't saving the ordinance drop for the right time and choosing the right ordinance a strategy itself?
I see that as cheap, and frustrating. A perfect example of players being inconsistently rewarded with undeserved triumph.
The guy who wrote it knows a lot about games. He clearly has a knowledge about the core mechanics of 'competitive' gameplay and what the 'competitive' community likes. But because of this he digs too deeply into games, and thinks if he's having fun with different mechanics something must be wrong. If you don't look for reason to hate the game it's more than enjoyable. And what's wrong with enjoying a game?
Nothing. But the game could be significantly better than it is, and cannot be expected to last in its current state. The review is exposing the flaws which need to be rectified if the game is to be worth playing in a few months, or even weeks time. [Edited on 11.13.2012 4:32 AM PST]
a poor replacement to the once fan-favourite Firefight.
This for example, is a complete lie. Hardly anyone was playing firefight after a few months into reach and those that did only did so for the mass of credits it gave them, so much for "fan-favourite".
ODST can be considered one though...
Posted by: A 3 Legged Goat Also, a friend of mine just tweeted what I can wholeheartedly agree with: "It's like feeling a sublime bliss, but when it ends and you reflect on it, you realize that you knew on some level that something was wrong. The game's not a failure. That it can trigger bliss in the first place is a success. But that constant sense that something is off... :\" Once the novelty wears off (and though it varies for each person, it does wear off), this quote cannot be more true.
This is what happened to me with Reach, honestly. I didn't realize until I reached Lt Colonel that I wasn't having fun with the game, I just enjoyed watching my credits go up. Skinner boxes are evil.

So you're implying that you aren't being 'brutally honest' in all your other posts.

Its not a bad review but I only agree with the spawning system. I've spawned next to enemies multiple times. It also bothers me that they seem to imply their opinion is fact right from the beginning.

That wasn't very honest.
