Did Bungie have Halo 4 in mind?
We've all seen the Legendary ending to Halo 3, but was Bungie really planning on doing anything with it? I'm confused as to whether they planned on making a new game or handing that ending off to 343i and letting them work with it.

Besides, a lot of people felt that the ending of Halo 3 was left to interpretation and wasn't going to become a sequel. It certainly spawned a lot of fan fictions. I don't know of anything showing that Bungie knew that Halo 4 would be made after Halo 3. Bungie had 2 games to make before they hung up their jersey, ODST(lol) and Reach.They couldn't make Haalo 4, it wouldn't fit right within the story.

They originally intended to do Halo 4, but realized it'd take more than 1 game, so they did Reach.

I don't think they knew exactly what they were going to do all the way back in 2007. I think the ending allowed them some flexibility, in that they could either end it right there, or add on later.

I think they were kind of done with Halo back in 2007 after Halo 3 was done. But I'm not a Bungie employee, so . . . [Edited on 11.09.2012 4:42 PM PST]
