So I recently had some thread posts and PM's with some younger members about being too old to be on this site.
Personally I think the demographic for Halo is older than teenager but I'd like to hear from the community about age on B.net?
Also for reference I am 36 and here's some recent gamer age statistics from Australia -
Posted by: Khirna Isn't Recon like 75?
I think you forgot a few zeros. :) But isn't there a group of like really old people on here? But nothing wrong with being old and liking video games, I wish I could convince my grandpa to get a computer. [Edited on 09.21.2012 9:23 AM PDT]

It's around 21, give or take depending on the sampling method. If it makes you feel any better, about 5% of our community is older than you are. :)
That is surprising, I suppose though we have some oldies bringing up the average.

I have a 40 something year old friend who used to go on this site, not sure if he still does.
-
If you're older than myself, you're too old to be here. Looking at you Cobra ;) I'm 12

Are you sure the sample is reliable, or could it be heavily influenced by people lying about their age for fear of otherwise not being invited to help with playtesting?
Outliers, maybe? If we're expecting somewhere between 15-18 to be the average, then there's far more available space for outliers on the older end of the age spectrum versus the younger end.
Posted by: Khirna I thought being 22 was old, but now after hearing all you guys spout your age, I feel so much younger. Thanks for the boost!
22, old man
Posted by: Oddley765
Posted by: Make117 I think we will have 60 year old gamers in 20-30 years. OP is 60 in 24 years (sorry).
Too right mate, I will be 60 in 24 years time. No issue with you posting that at all.
Good, I was just being careful because some people are really sensitive about their age.

YAY! Mid-30s for me. My dad even plays video games and he's in his late 50s. Before my grandpa died, he played some video games when he was in his 70s.
-
I am 18, I like to think I am youthful. Hopefully I still have a while before I become "old" as you describe. [Edited on 09.21.2012 5:42 AM PDT]

Nah, you're never too old; my dad and I share an X-box 360 with both of us regularly playing games and he's in his 50's. In fact, he got me into Halo after he originally thought that the game Halo: CE was terrible because it had come free with the X-box. Boy, was he wrong.

Anybody else surprised about no posts from papa rich? OT: I had a guy tell me I'm to old for games as videogames are for little kids, and I'm only 15 (feels noob-ish admitting it). I just walked over to the TV, booted up Halo, and just kept reloading the most violent cutscene I could find. The look on his face. XD

You're never to old to play video games. My dad is in his 50s and he plays video games. If anyone thinks your to old to be playing video games then there going to have a very boring life whenever there old.
-
Posted by: DrBunsenHoneydew Don't let anyone tell you you're too old to be part of the community. It's worth remembering that one of our slogans is "We make games we want to play", and there are plenty of guys in their mid-thirties working here. :)
That is totally out of context however. That's their 'job' to make games, and its something they enjoy. I would assume you Reach an age where you don't want to play games anymore..... God have mercy on their souls
-
Posted by: MasterSin LOL! YOu're never too old for video games, most of my friends are older than 25 and the oldest of my friends is 40 and he is not the only one I know, I personally don't think you need a certain age to be in a forum or play video games of any kind.
Until you have kids that is.
-
Your never to old to enjoy video games or to old to enjoy sites such as these.
-
I was clearly too young when I started here at age 10. Now, at age 17, I hardly think anyone is "too old" to be a part of the community.
-
Maybe I am.
-
I used to be young like you, then I took arthritis to the knee. Clever no? Also I prefer playing with mature gamers. Not saying there aren't younger players out there I will play with, but stupid comments like the one the OP said about being too old to play, come on really?!
-
I went to see star wars on release aged 11. Played space invaders, galaxian, pong, street fighter, doom, quake, half-life, halo. Don't know when/how I should stop.
-
I'll never be old enough for this site. Never ever.
