As for the challenge, guessing at Bungie Lore won't be enough. We want to see your problem solving mojo. Team up if you will, but a winner is just a guesser without documentation of how they solved the puzzle.
Posted by: CrazzySnipe55 Banana phone is a song from 1994. And it could be a Major G? Anyone with military experience able to look at that guy and tell if he's a major?
First page, it's a general.
Posted by: Unanimate Objec I think the note of "G" may have to do with Halo.
These are the tunings that are offered for the Halo Genesis and Halo Stratus for Batch Two. For Batch Two (and most likely, future batches) we selected a small number of tunings to improve our efficiency and to insure that every instrument we make sounds as good as possible. We also chose tunings so that each Halo has a Stratus that compliments it perfectly (and vice versa).
Linky Also, when I looked up 'Banana Phone', it said that a 'Banana Phone' can be a reference to a mobile phone, so Apple+Phone isn't out of the question.
Banana phone is a song from 1994. Maybe the answer to the riddle is a song, and the outsidey bits are clues like cut-time. Then the name of the song is somehow extractable from the interior letters and numbers
Posted by: Kalriq SO MUCH COUNTERACTING LOGIC.
YOU LOVE IT REALLY. Another theory I had was that "4" = 7 and you need to follow the 6s to get to image 6 and the 5s to get to image 5, etc. But that didn't pan out. Maybe "4" is number 1.
Posted by: MURDUR 587 Ok so now it's time for a very weakly threaded analysis. "It all begins with you" Referencing the "U"s in the picture, there are 4 Us, so it begins with "4". There's a 4 at the top in cased in a septagon (us). Regardless of the clues I was going to assume that was the starting point I'm simply tying it into the line of reasoning that fits in the best with the clue. Ok now naturally we'll go clockwise, because I dunno, that's what we do with circular objects. Now the first clue is a clock with the right half cut off, which means in a clock face of that description you would have to go counter clock wise because of the lack of numbers. Which means we were going the wrong way. Banana phone, webmaster phone, the webmaster used the phone to call Apple. In regarding a general of music, Marty and a Bungie, the company. The webmaster called apple to hire Marty to Bungie so he could make angelic music? No, that doesn't make sense. Perhaps the clock means there's two separate messages and you're only supposed to decipher one side of the clock at the time, or maybe you're supposed to go the other way and go to the banana phone. Perhaps the banana phone means you're supposed to look at the base message and ignore the exccentracies, so the banana phone isn't supposed to be a banana phone but just a phone, it's not supposed to be half a clock but a clock, etc. Either that or we shouldn't be going left or right in the image but look at connections through numbers, are there six sevens? Perhaps the seven that connects one image to another is the direction you're meant to go.
SO MUCH COUNTERACTING LOGIC.

The banana phone is trying to tell me something. A cry fro help, perhaps? I must investigate further. [Edited on 09.15.2012 7:31 AM PDT]

That shape is a seven pointed star, the shame shape that the 4 in the top is inside of. I also thought that the somewhat random placement of character meant there had to be a pattern to connect them all, So connect the dot came to mind. Due to the 7 points which correspond to a picture it made sense to me to create a seven pointed star. I haven't checked if the lines cross any key numbers or letters. Another idea was to expand the 6 rectangles of the septagon so that they're congruent to the top rectangle and see which number/letters are isolated because it should create a 7 sided shape somewhere in the middle because 7 rectangles crossing each other in the middle = 7 sided shape. I have a feeling this puzzle has to do with connecting the dots or geometric shapes. This is all guesses though and I'm far too busy to go and look into my thoughts, but if anyone wants to try this be my guest. [Edited on 09.15.2012 7:09 AM PDT]

A good Mail Sack, always makes me smile that I got a response, even if the response is a confusing quote about spiders. I have no idea how to solve that puzzle at all...
Posted by: H0FFman J
Posted by: Kalriq If we can draw up what the clock means, the relevance of the number four and when the webmaster first appeared, we could be onto something. At the moment I'm leaning towards the idea that if we read this in the right way, the letters and numbers will produce something to work with. I could be totally wrong!
"Letters to the Webmaster" began in april 1996. And could the clock be a reference to the giant countdown clock that was active during the halo 3 development in 2007?
A clock counting down to "Content Complete" (the quotes are undeniably appropriate, here) kept watch over the 434 building's vanguard, until a suspicious and still-unsolved incident with only days "left" before "content complete" shattered the clock's face, ensuring that this truly was its final countdown. Had Studio Manager Harold Ryan shattered the clock over his knee? Was the clock used in a hacky sack midnight battle? Or was something more nefarious at play? We'll never know or tell.

That works, unless the 'Half time' reading of it is still around.

Bungie formed in 1991. Marty was contracted inbetween, but was hired in 1999. Apple backed Halo in 1999. Halo CE was released in 2001. If we can draw up what the clock means, the relevance of the number four and when the webmaster first appeared, we could be onto something. At the moment I'm leaning towards the idea that if we read this in the right way, the letters and numbers will produce something to work with. I could be totally wrong!
-
What about putting the pictures in chronological order? So when the webmaster first appeared, when Marty joined Bungie, when Apple supported them etc. try the years and the dates - it might get us something to work with?
-
Could the '4' be related to a number of awards?
