Can the police engage enemy soldiers
A question I have
Say that our home country is at war with another country, say Germany. German soldiers are invading the capital. They aren't harming civilians, just engaging thr home troops. Since war is a legal thing, and no civilians are being harmed, can the local police force also engage the enemy soldiers?

The Marines are technically a military branch serving as the President's world-wide quick action force. When it comes down to it they take their orders from the president. And I'm pretty sure that if hostile soldiers started walking on the US mainland (I'm American so just an example) and started trying to take over cities and actually invade then many with rifles will be out their fighting or protecting their family. In that case so will police and servicemen WILL be deployed first... congressional approval as it happens.

If your country is being invaded, I don't think anyone really cares who is fighting the invaders. As long as SOMEONE is defending the country, I don't think people will really care who it is.

In situations like that the Police, Fire Department, and Paramedics would probably be evacuating population and aiding the soldiers logistically as much as possible.

Also, police would be the first line of defense since they are already in charge of their Precincts. You can't invade somewhere without harming the civilians there. But yes, the police would fight them.
