Why is Halo waypoint so hated by B-net?

I mean seriously. Just a question but I've noticed this forum carries a lot of hate for them.

  • I wasn't banned on the waypoint forums for an idea i came up with and suggested a while ago, AMA! But sersiously, am i the only one who wasn't banned on waypoint?

  • There is no point in responding to admin posts like Achronos. It's as if they have some golden rule where they can only post once per thread. I can imagine obvious reasons why that is, but if there are no particular reasons, then these men (and women) have nerves of steel.

  • They do not allow constructive criticism at all. I went on and was talking about a way to fix a game type and I was banned for basically trolling.

  • The stats section of Waypoint is terrible compared to B.net. I want to throw things at my computer every time I go on it.

  • 1. Slow site 2. Silly stuff that makes the site slow 3. Community that doesn't post anything but " I love your game 343i" 4. I don't know who is who there. 5. We compare B.net to waypoint because we've passed more time here, and the community here at least trys to respect. (sometimes) 6. No interaction with the community (33i staff) 7. You post and no one replys, you post on B.net and at least you get "cOLD" or something similar. 8. Waypoint it's just ugly. [Edited on 11.13.2012 11:22 AM PST]

  • I've never been banned on Halo Waypoint, but I have been here for the STUPIDEST reason ever. People say the mods are more strict there? I beg to differ.

  • I can't spend more than 5-10 minutes on Waypoint without it hanging. The site feels like it's held together with rubber bands and masking tape.

  •
Posted by: xImNotProx I saw a thread a couple months ago that was about criticism the competitive community had with the game. All of the competitive players were being respectful and weren't flaming anyone. The casuals and the fanboys went into the thread and basically flamed the competitive community the whole time. I went back to the thread a day later and none of their posts were edited by the mods. If the competitive players did what the casuals were doing they would have all been banned.
this is why I don't go on there.

  •
Posted by: TFU244 People here like to see what they have to do to get banned, and then complain when they get banned. The mods over there are actually fairly decent at determining who is doing this.
• What makes Bungie.net better than 343i is you and the Bungie.net webteam actually care about the site, address issues, and made a great user-friendly UI that works on all browsers. But, alas, the sites terrible UI and loading time is not the issue, the issue itself is with the moderation staff and admins. They can't stand any negative feedback. You will get banned for criticizing Halo 4 on the forums if you do it long enough even if you are on topic and have valid reasons. I like how the Bungie devs and webteam responds to issues and to their fans, most of the 343i employees have been known to go on Neogaf and tell people information and NEVER talk to anyone on their forums.
Posted by: Achronos
Posted by: TehWarMoose After the Bungie.net Halo forums were removed, all the idiots in the Reach board migrated to Waypoint. 'tis now a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Wait, the Halo forums on bungie.net were removed? What trickery is this? In unrelated news, applying the word "hate" to a web site that contains a lot of people who essentially love the same thing you do (I'm talking Halo; get your mind out of the gutter) seems rather stupid.
• 343's moderation mannerisms resulted in me returning Halo 4 today for a full refund - fortunately, I get special considerations at my local game store due to being a VIP customer and good friends with the owner. Special considerations being the "disc scratch warranty" (we got a big knife and put a nice big scratch in it). So 343 aren't getting my money, and they aren't selling that disc. And I won't be getting 5 or 6 now, either. I have considered acts like this to be overreactions in the past, considering they were done based solely on the fact that players didn't like the game they got. I did it because I was appalled at the treatment of paying customers. I haven't abused anyone, or even used foul language on their forums - a little sarcasm directed at a childish tantrum and bam, banhammer. Well screw them. I'll buy them pre-owned from JB Hi Fi eventually, just for the story. [Edited on 11.13.2012 5:46 AM PST]

  • I think it's about the mods. They ban you for critizicing their game. •
Posted by: Recon Number 54 Can someone please explain why this appears to be the case for those who are unhappy with their experiences there? I know that there are thousands of people who are unhappy with their experiences here (I have the PM's to prove it) and I would assume that most of that disappointment stems from them expecting this place to be "just like this other site I visit and like".
I don't like the U.I of the site. It's clunky, slow, and doesn't look very aesthetically appealing. The mods seem...... like real dicks, I realize the "play nice" thing, but.... some of it is ridiculous. If you speak out against some stupid ideas or mechanics in Halo 4 in the slightest of the wrong way - you get a hefty ban. That..... and the community is full of the people I rather not associate myself with. I haven't been banned from there mind you. I just find B.net more attractive, and the trolls keep me company at night.

I haven't really participated in that community much, but I've used the website a little bit, and I'm not a big fan of their design. Seems clunky to me, which I know a lot of people will disagree with, but I like some pretty basic website designs. Some parts of it - especially the service record - perform poorly at times, too.

People with lower k/d than me would've been "wrong" because of over a petty and useless stat as k/d? Get off your high horse, "You have low post count" "Get higher k/d" and "You didn't have 50 in Halo 3" arguments are just idiotic.
The merits of an argument are only determined by the merits of an argument - k/d and post count sound like strawman arguments. Completely irrelevant.

  •
Posted by: TheGreenAlloy M-rated games attract kids. That's no secret. Also, considering all the toys 343 have been pumping out, I bet they want the younger crowd.
That's not a justification for why they are being allowed to play these games. And it's not a justification for why the mature audience get's sidelined.
