Recently been arguing with a friend over this and he thinks it is definitely warhammer as the most powerful.
I disagree and say stargate is quite possibly the most powerful.
Which sci-fi universe is the most powerful in terms of strength, tech and numbers combined?
Edit:who necrobumped this? It's 2 years old.

Ahem... The Ancients would lose because they are pacifists that don't get involved in anything. The downstreamers, from what I've read in that link, seem to be like Goku, unreasonably undefeatable, so they are out. 40K is being suggested by everyone who hasn't said downstreamers, but I don't much about the lore, so no opinion on that. Star Wars is weak if you really break it down. Jedi can be killed fairly easily and the robots in the series are not much to be afraid of. Marvel & DC....I don't think they would be able to hold out against some of the stuff suggested. Honestly, I don't think there will ever be a clear winner because they were all designed to be the best and overcome all odds.

The amount of fanwank in that link......... Anyways I think the Q could take on the ancients. And the Time Lords could take on the Downstreamers with ease.
Posted by: theHurtfulTurkey Here's an answer you might not think of: Stargate. the Ancients were quite literally gods after ascending. If they chose to, they could effortlessly eliminate all life in the universe. They're essentially the Q Continuum of Star Trek.
There's lots of other gods from other universes that would stomp the Ancients. Plus, they aren't omnipotent.
-
I'd say Halo is up there. Precursors were beasts and the Forerunners had the Halo Array if need be.
-
Goku.

My mother. She is deadly.

From what I've read and what my brother has told me, I'd say the Culture universe, but there's probably a far more OP universe.

We need more Galactus and Thanos love up in here.

According to Wildnuke, who has actually read that series, they are quite weak.

I think I am sensing a trend here...
Posted by: Xd00999
Posted by: Haloroach
Posted by: Xd00999 Serious mode now: Warhammer 40k can defeat pretty much every science fiction universe. As you can see above, me and Wyldfyre just listed more gods than there are books in the Halo series. Off the top of my head, the only things that 40k can not beat are Time Lords, Daleks, Q (but the rest of Star Trek is not so tough), Marvel and DC comics, the Culture, and the Downstreamers (have heard conflicting accounts about Downstreamers strength). Even then, they can still put up quite a fight.
You mean every sci fi gaming universe. Downstreamers would decimate. Seriously. Plus, Halo would be able to give 40K pause with the Precursors. (Not saying Halo could beat them, just saying they'd be able to put up a fight).
No. I mean most science fiction universe. I'm sure there are dozens I have never heard of, but 40k can stomp quite a few. I have never heard any real feats about the Downstreamers besides fans saying they stomp everything, everywhere, every when. But, the beauty of Chaos is that you can do next to nothing without it fueling the gods. Kill everyone? Khorne. Plan a perfect plan? Tzeentch. Do nothing? Nurgle. Love someone? Slaanesh. Show honour in a fight? Khorne. Trying to climb the corporate ladder? Tzeentch. Defiance? Nurgle. Etcetera, etcetera. A pause. That is all. The Star Gods can rend the Precursors limb from limb, Psykers can ravage their minds, and if all else fails, someone can just open up a warp portal.
Do some reading on the Downstreamers. Pokemon. Nearly everything just faints instead of dying.
