I could earn a living off minecraft lol
I am earning 6,000 dollars (not counting expenses.) a year from a server and I am 13. If I got more popular I realized I could almost earn around 20,000 dollars a year which is not a very good living but I could if I wanted to haha.
For the sake of a discussion Do you have a server?
EDIT: The title was a joke. I am just saying that would be pretty awesome. I am obviously going to finish school.

World is a changing place, people who can make money off of the internet I say are smart people. I'm 15 and make a decent amount flipping graphics cards, but it's nowhere near what you make, I probably can make a couple thousand a year tops, problem is, I strike out as much as I hit a homerun (couple months ago I scored a new but open box 560ti for $79, sold it same day I received it in the mail for $170, that was a good day). Best of luck to you OP, I don't know the longevity of something like Minecraft servers but the way I see it, being able to code/script is a field that isn't only limited to video game servers and I'll bet once you get into the real world you can put those skills to a real living. With that amount of income, you'd better be saving it. If you've gone that far, though, you could take a gamble to buy your own/build your own server and upgrade your home internet (or find a friend who owns a server farm like I did :P) in attempt to sell VPSs and such. It seems like easy cash, since Minecraft isn't looking like it's slowing down, and there's always little/lesser known servers which people always want to start; even if it doesn't last there's likely to be someone willing to take their spot. It's a gamble, like I said, since it's heavily reputation and advertising based, but it can pay huge dividends over time. [Edited on 08.29.2012 11:17 AM PDT]

I see nothing wrong with pocketing donations. These dumb creatures willingly depart with the notes they work for. They love living in the fantasy reality that helps them forget their real reality. If that isn't the case.. peer pressure is to blame, herd mentality. You should make the site flashier, more gimmicks. These.. creatures.. like to feel special as well. Give extras to the ones that donate the most, senseless stuff like a special title, or a uniform for their charactors. I've noticed that they will do anything to feel as though they are better/superior to the others in the herd. Make haste though. Like most simple minded games and media it is going to be short lived, defeated by the next mindless thing to be released.
