Halo for Mac

Likely asked a thousand times, but is Halo Mac available anywhere for a normal asking price? It seems ridiculous no one would put it up on the App Store or Steam. The demand is there. Does anyone know of anywhere to get it? Papa John

  •
I actually saw a guy trying to play Halo on a Mac one time. He couldn't get past 20 fps on medium graphics at half of his screen resolution.
Admittedly, some Macs have this problem, their processing speed to too slow to cope with a 10 year old game. Just to equalise the argument and both sides of opinion on mac gaming, I am running the Halo CE demo on my mac fine, with high detail models enabled, shaders on, and in full resolution. Macs were never really designed to play games well, they can however sometimes run games okay. Bear in mind that my MBP is the 13" and from 2010.

  •
Posted by: DHTH777 Not sure if this is possible for you, but if you have a mall with an apple store you can find one for $20 I believe.
Like an above poster said, Halo for Mac has been out of print for years now. As it was built for PowerPC systems, it probably hasn't been sold brand new since at least 2007. I'm not even sure if Apple Stores sell games; if they do, it's very, very few. •
Posted by: DusK
Posted by: Beowul7 Hell, why would you buy a Mac at all?
Five years ago? For music production, video editing, etc. Now? To be a hipster and "stick it to the man".
Nah, the Mac didn't have anything special that most video editors needed. Final Cut Pro gets mentioned a lot but really, there's better software available for Windows. [Edited on 08.14.2012 3:01 AM PDT]

This probably has to do with the fact that nobody in their right mind would buy a Mac for gaming.
Thanks man. I own a desktop for PC gaming. I've logged hundreds of hours on my copy of Halo PC on it. Thought it might be nice to get a copy for my MacBook to play on the go or when not around a desktop. I realize Macs are not "made for gaming," but companies like Valve and EA are quickly realizing the value in the marketplace. Mac has grown to a nearly 10% share of the PC market and it would be silly to continue to ignore that population. Tons of old games are now available for Mac through Steam, the App Store, and other digital distribution sites. I'm glad that you take pride in your PC ownership (it's something, anyway), but really don't need your ridicule when asking a simple question. In short, you bought a machine for gaming. Good for you. I didn't, but am looking to do a little with a beloved game. I've noticed that every thread that mentions Apple products is flocked to by people who have nothing better to do than bash a brand. Sad. Papa John
he's a reasonable man, get off his case.
Pretty much this. I asked him how much it costs and it was up in the thousands.

Nope. Halo Mac is out of print and thus is extremely rare which is why the price is so ridiculously high. I have a Macbook (for Uni and Music/photo/Video editing) but if I were you, use bootcamp for Windows and run Halo PC. It's a cheaper option if you already have a copy and Windows installed. Otherwise, stick with Halo PC on your PC like I do. Just my 2 cents.
