NOTE: I read the rules. This isn't political, as I'm not taking any side of a political party.
If this gets out of hand, however, I will close the thread, and erase the OP.
Calmly state your standpoint, why you have that standpoint, and respectfully listen/disagree with someone else's.
The -blam!- filter should not be breached, and there should be no hurt feelings from this thread. I merely want to know the Flood's standpoint on the matter.
I personally am strongly for it.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with it, and I haven't so much as glanced at the chick-fil-a since it was discovered they gave money to anti--blam!--blam!- organizations.
Love is love.
And if Chick-fil-a can say their opinion, and discriminate against -blam!--blam!-s, I can say my opinion and not eat there.
OP Lives in Dallas BTW
Posted by: da5boroughs I'm against same-sex marriage because it is, simply put, an oxymoron. I've always seen marriage defined as a (often religious) union between a man and a woman. I'm all for LGBT rights, and I would have no problem with a civil union between a man and a man or woman and woman that has the same properties as marriage, but you shouldn't call it marriage. Basically I agree with that Recon guy.
Personally, I think it's a stupid concept in the first place. Gheys should be happy together and away from the marriage, which is basically a massive scam. However, considering there are legal benefits, it needs to be universal. What's wrong with gheys fighting for financial benefits? Are you suggesting straight couples don't care about money? [Edited on 08.11.2012 12:51 PM PDT]

I'm not for, nor am I against same-sex marriage, but it's the way they're branding their cause. They say to "support love". They're not doing it for love, they're doing it to gain the same financial benefits as opposite-sex couples. Keyword financial. Last time I checked, two men or two women can be together and love eachother without being arrested. So again, they can fight for their cause, whatever, but don't try to mislead people just to get them on your side. Be honest about it. They're fighting to get the same financial benefits, not for love. Because people can love eachother without having to be married.
Have you ever even talked to a ghey couple?
Yes, I have. My uncle is ghey, and I visit him and his partner quite often. I've researched the subject aswell, and a lot of what they're fighting for are for the benefits that come with marriage, mainly the financial ones.

It's the fact that ina country that celebrates equality. They are not granted equality. It's a fact that same sex couples are being discriminated against legally, for whatever reason. If I was -blam!-, I would like to know I have the same opportunity to get married as everyone else does.
Posted by: RECON828 I dunno. I used to be completely OK with it but I'm not sure on the exact definition of marriage. I'm under the impression that it was originally designed to be a union between a man and a woman, with that being the whole point of it. If this is true, I don't see the point in changing the whole point of the ceremony purely just because it's politically correct. In that case, I obviously don't have a problem with them being together or anything like that, just think that it goes against the definition. If the impression I'm under is a bad one (and I'm aware it most likely is), then I see no problem with it at all. I'm not sure what it is and don't care enough to google. Please don't bite my balls if I'm wrong about it. Honestly, I wish the rights given to married couples could be accessed without being married. I find it a bit of a pointless constitution, to be honest.
It's funny that you stated your opinion and you're scared of what people will say to you. I've recently learned that tolerance is a one way street. OT: I agree with this guy. I don't think it's cool that a group of people are hijacking the word marriage. Don't destroy something for someone else (marriage for anti-blam!- people) because then you are becoming what you hate, discriminators. Instead, you create something new or be happy with what you've got.

There really isn't a good argument against it, so of course I support it like any other normal person.
-
For it. No one organisation owns marriage, so nobody should be allowed to dictate the course of it. Its 2012, and there is no logical reason to deny them equal rights, and two men/women getting married in a government office infringes upon the rights of no one.
-
Absolutely for it.
