Dead Space 2 Hardcore mode - Best Save Points?
I've used one of my saves just before the giant monster that screams at you when you fall down the vent after getting shot at by the gunship. I'm really REALLY tempted to save before the pathetic return through the atmosphere after repositioning the solar arrays. Is that a smart move? Because I don't want to jump back to Chapter 4 because I didn't go through the flying obstacles safely enough.
Funny, after all that effort, one false move dodging a giant object and flying through a small hallway can get you killed easily.
So, T4F; best save points for Hardcore mode?

Sell the Pulse rifle and Seeker Rifle. Stick to your Plasma Cutter and Force Gun. force gun rapes on hardcore when upgraded.

I'm using a Plasma Cutter, Force Gun, Pulse Rifle and Seeker Rifle. Okay I'm not risking it, I saved before the skydive. One save left, at least I don't have to do 7 chapters again. [Edited on 07.16.2012 7:59 AM PDT]

Considering you wasted a save already, and the game gets really long after chapter 9. These are the most common save points: Chapter 7, 9, before the Ishimura, Before the Drill Ride, and Before you stick a needle in the Eye. What weapons are you using? Plasma Cutter + Force Gun combo?

I went with 5,8 and 11 Sucked when i died at the end but i made it through easily enough. Tips: DLC Bloody force gun and the best Plasma cutter + the forged engineering suit. Save your money for ammo, don't waste it on nodes as your stasis and the force gun are the only things worth getting. Get peng! 1 Line gun alternate shot should kill a nest (Zero G pee pee monsters) The game made me rage a dozen times, so good luck!

I'm on the PC. Are you sure I should save at 9 rather than before the solar array skyfall?

Pro Tip: If playing on Xbox, you get a free checkpoint at chapter 7 when you swap discs. I recommend, 9, 10 and before the Needle in the Eye. Even though Needle in the eye is easy as -blam!- to do. I don't take chances.
