"Why is 4chan so much greater than The Flood?"
I bet a lot of you guys ask yourself that, especially if you don't frequent any of their boards all that much. But, do you really want to know why?
Threads like [url=http://boards.4chan.org/fit/res/13399615]this[/url].
Now, sure even Floodian's can compose a truly brilliant thread here in there, but there's an element that's missing in these forums that 4chan has.

Some have a decent discussion going on others the OP just posts/attempts to troll and leaves. The same thing can be said about a lot of users on here. As for the images helping the user get tied to the thread. I really don't see a lot of that happening on 4chan. If anything more of that happens on reddit.

How come every time an idea is brought up with this forum it's shot down because it's "not needed", not "practical", not "essential". Why can't we implement things BECAUSE THEY ARE ENTERTAINING, FUN, "COOL"? Let's look at Coup for instance. It's not needed, it's not practical, nor is it essential; however people continue to use it. That really isn't what I am talking about. Pictures in a discussion based forum for the most part are not needed nor should be needed to get most points across. That is why having such a feature should not be needed at all. Then on top of that is isn't an imageboard which more or less is what you want it to be.[/quote]

Wh-what!? Please, do explain. People aren't going to simply post pictures and then leave to venture off into another thread in which they would simply post yet another picture. Even if they do do that, they've done it before but instead of pictures, they'd lay out a simple text post that you can't build off of. Seriously, one week and we'd be golden; I swear. It was some sort of extended BB Code that more or less broke the site, and allowed for the embedding of pictures, videos, and polls into any post you made. The guy who found it was personally banned by Achronos for half a year.

Yeah, a captcha I feel would prevent a lot of the issues that people are addressing here. It's a pain in the ass though. However, I'd rather have plenty more laughs and deal with a captcha system.
